Hey,

Very happy to have co-written the Christmas single "Dear Santa" for Girls' Generation-TTS (Taeyon, Tiffany & Seohyun), one of the most populat acts in South Korea.

They song is like a medley with many different parts and with a couple of jazzy chord progressions. It starts like a ballad and then goes into a faster tempo.

This song made an "all-kill" on the day of the release which means Nr1 placements on all the 8 real time/streaming charts in Korea. The mini-album "Dear Santa" also made it to Nr1 in 9 countries on itunes.

SM Entertainment released two versions of this song, in Korean and in English. Check it out!

talking country guitar with guthrie trappHow did you get started playing guitar?

I grew up in a very musically rich family. My parents did not play instruments, but my uncle was a self taught musician and I really looked up to him. Me being an only child, he was like an older brother to me. My parents however listened to a ton of great music. I was not raised on Top 40 radio by any means. A lot of folk, blues, country, bluegrass, jazz and some rock was what I heard from birth. I think that's what instills the sound and feel of music in our hearts as infants and young children.

Being in that environment, I was drawn to the instruments that were always around. I first noodled on the harmonica and then picked up guitar and later mandolin - that was around 7 years old I think. I started really diving into guitar and mandolin from about 10-13 years old.

Tony MacAlpine Benefit Concert

I had the great pleasure and honor of jamming with Steve Vai, Richie Kotzen, Nuno Bettencourt, John 5, Tom Morello, Billy Sheehan, Derek Sherinian, and Mike Portnoy at the recent benefit concert for Tony MacAlpine. The Wiltern Theater in L.A. was packed, and everyone played inspired and intense guitar music. A highlight for me was playing Tony's song "Edge of Insanity" with Steve Vai.

If you'd like to support Tony during his recovery, you can shop for some great guitars on this site.
