you could see that the erasers are
supremely valuable when you're drawing.
So, they're not only there to erase
mistakes, but
they're actually there to add depth, add
add atmosphere, add light, add brightness,
They are your friends, and you should be
treating them like they're your friends.
So, let's just do a quick little demo of
you know, how we can use the eraser.
So, let's say we have our ground here,
just throwing a quick little ground,
and we can make this a little
Let's say we're doing a little landscape
You've got your mountains.
You've got a little bit of your foreground
stuff going on.
Your middle ground here.
Some more foreground stuff,
trees, and bushes, and that kind of a
And we've got some.
And your sky which kind of grayed from
darker to light.
Dark to light.
Like that.
It's kinda blocking that end,.
Just blocking that in.
Just, simple shapes.
Just showing you how you can use your
eraser to kind of get
these other shapes in.
So, say I've got kind of an abstract
landscape going on,
and you want some clouds in there.
Just kinda run that over your hand.
You want some clouds in there, so you're
just gonna kinda use your kneaded eraser,
because your kneaded eraser is really soft
And it's really beautiful.
So you can kinda get your billowing cloud
shapes like that.
See, just really kind of experience those
clouds in there like that.
And then you're gonna have your light
You might wanna take your vinyl eraser.
And just kind of hit those lights, right
like that.
Like that.
And you might wanna just block values out
with this eraser too.
Just kind of blocking it out.
Blocking it out.
And, obviously, clean the edges up with
this, too.
Bam cause it's got such a great straight
to it.
Maybe there's
just a mountain
range here [NOISE] And
there's a secondary
mountain back here.
There's a third group of shapes here.
And then we just kind of come
in with like our other eraser.
And we just starting kinda getting a
little bit of that sky here.
Kinda some atmosphere, like that.
That's really first of all.
Give this [NOISE]
We're gonna give
it some atmosphere.
Glaze it back.
And pick up some light in that sky over
here, either with our kneaded or
our vulcanized
rubber eraser.
So you can see, we can really make this
soft with this eraser.
Just really soft, like that.
It just really feels like clouds.
And if we ever wanted a hard light, we
come in right here,
that side.
We just feel like clouds in the
atmosphere, and
clouds are actually pretty light even on
the dark side,
getting more diffused as it goes back.
This mountain range.
It goes back like that.
[SOUND] Maybe there's some bushes here.
Some edge here.

of mountains
back here.
I have a tree in the foreground here.
Like that.
And you can see, I'm drawing a lot my
pencil, but I'm also keep coming back in
and I'm gonna make that sky even lighter.
And just tickle it right like that.
[LAUGH] Tickle it.
That's how the paper feels.
That's right.
You hear what I'm saying.
then I wanna take that, that kind of that,
background mountain range and
kind of just glaze over it with my eraser.
Just kind of lose it a little bit.
Lose that edge, just a little bit, like
I wanna kind of lose all this middle
make it a little, way darker
And maybe there's some
flowers that are kind
of here coming up.
You just kinda see this texture here.
Maybe some [NOISE] here.
Maybe there's even a light.
Some light hitting that tree on the edge,
where we want to take that mountain range
down in value.
We're just using a lot of eraser, a lot of
eraser all the time.
As you can see, just keep messing with it.
And just take that edge, I mean, we don't
like how hard that edge is.
Just kinda use that.
Take it back.
Take it back.
Take it back.
Just kill the atmosphere.
Just make it more sfumato.
Make more atmosphere in there.
See that?
All of a sudden,
it just becomes a little bit more
See that?
Ooh, that second range of building.
The second range of mountains back there.
Really soft edged like that.
[NOISE] Keep going with our pencil and
our tree here in the foreground.
[NOISE] So we have a dark.
Right here.
And we're gonna lift some lights.
See, I keep going back to my, this eraser
here cause I really just love this one.
But I'm gonna go to this one as well.
Maybe I'm gonna use my vinyl.
I feel like I've neglected it.
This is actually a really good one too.
Maybe the mountains have a little bit of
light on them.
We're going to take that atmosphere down a
little bit.
I'm going to hit super light on the tops
of those mountains.
I'm sorry the clouds like that.
See that?
You start getting, really start picking
those lights up.
Just kind of glaze back over that.
That really can
get a really hard
[NOISE] Like that.
So you could see, you could start building
up stuff with an eraser pretty easily.
Pretty fast.
Clean things up.
Make a little foreground darks
And give maybe a couple of just a little
bit of light on some of those bushes in
the foreground.
Like that.
Just to show the light kind of cascading
Like that.
It's pretty diffused light.
And maybe just a little.
A bit more like a hill coming up.
And a valley below here, and a valley.
There's just all this little foliage here.
Making a pocket.
So, the tops of those trees, will actually
be darker against that mountain.
Like that.
And the second layer of these,
this landscape, is way back like that.
And clean that up.
Look at that edge.
It's crazy good.
That vinyl really gets you.
That's a great edge.
There you go.
Maybe a couple birds in the sky
Like that.
See, it's kind of windy.
Okay, so.
Let's get a little bit of that out there,
soften some edges around here.
And maybe make some light following in the
foreground, like that, like it's
breaking through the sun, and kind of
just dappling onto the ground back there.
Throw some light, streaming across here.
And look, it's an eraser.
We don't like it, we just glaze over it.
Some light over here.
And some light gray in the foreground
right over there,
it's kind of coming at us.
And then we could kind of say the light's
coming more from that side.
And that this tree in the foreground is
just super dark and soft
Well, there's cast shadows coming across.
And we can always just erase and light.
To dark, light to dark, light, to dark
like that.
Lose that atmosphere a little bit.
See I'm just glazing over it with my
eraser and
just touching it back with pencil like
I will use the side of my
pencil box to get my line.
And there you go.
You can see, just a lot of it was design,
with just the eraser.
So the eraser is kind of, you know,
equally as important of a tool as the
