[MUSIC]
Okay, got another tune that we're
gonna work up for our gig tomorrow night.
This is a song off of
my first country album.
It's called Lay Around and Love On You.
And I learned it from Ray Charles, but
it was actually written by two Nashville
songwriters, one of whom is Bobby David.
>> Cool.
>> It's funky.
[MUSIC]
You don't have a harmonica player, do you?
>> No, we don't.
>> [LAUGH]
>> Is that Mickey Rafael?
>> Hope to make you.
>> It sounds like [INAUDIBLE] like Mickey.
>> It is, it is.
>> I saw him today, as a matter of fact.
>> Yeah, did you really?
>> Yeah, yeah.
>> [LAUGH] You should get him
to come sit in tomorrow night.
[LAUGH]
>> Yeah, really, he's here,
I just saw him a couple hours ago.
[MUSIC]
>> So what key are we in?
>> We are in
[MUSIC]
well, I'm tuned down, so it's here.
>> That's tricky.
>> That's E flat, so if that's E flat,
>> D.
>> We're in D, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
>> So
[MUSIC]
totally straight forward, blues, base,
>> Yep.
[MUSIC]
>> Stop.
[MUSIC]
[LAUGH]
[MUSIC]
Yeah,
and
that's
it.
I mean, that's once through the form.
It does exactly the same form repeated
with a solo over the verse section.
>> Okay.
>> The vocal comes back in at the for,
lay around and love, the B-section again,
and then it tags a couple of times.
I'll play the tag,
just to make sure the chart's right.
[MUSIC]
So here's the end, here's,
right here, this last one.
[MUSIC]
Yeah,
so it does that
quick,
[MUSIC]
sorry.
So
[MUSIC]
does that quick
move again.
[MUSIC]
Yeah
[MUSIC]
Yeah, and each of
these are push.
So
[MUSIC]
two, three, [SOUND] that one's push,
that flat seven is push.
>> Okay.
>> So one, two, three, four,
[MUSIC]
two, three, four.
Ba, yeah, so this is a retard here.
Let's slow it down on that flat 7,
yeah, that's it.
>> Okay, cool.
>> That's it, wanna play to it?
>> Sure.
>> Two, one, two, three,
[MUSIC],
and actually, this should be a stop.
Sorry, I didn't write that on the chart.
>> Right, right, right, right.
>> That's a stop.
[SOUND]
>> Okay.
>> Yeah, so two, three, intro.
[MUSIC]
Sorry,
I put in the wrong spot,
I'm an idiot.
>> Okay.
[LAUGH]
>> So the stop is on that sharp four.
>> Okay.
>> Yeah, sorry.
>> Cool.
>> Two, three, top.
[MUSIC]
That's it.
[MUSIC]
B
section.
[MUSIC]
[LAUGH]
[MUSIC]
Solo!
Yes, [LAUGH]
[MUSIC]
and we'll split it like
guitar keys maybe?
[MUSIC]
I'll probably break out my kazoo,
do my big kazoo solo.
[MUSIC]
[MUSIC]
[MUSIC]
One, two,
three, push,
two, three,
four,
[MUSIC]
that's it.
[MUSIC]
[SOUND]
>> [LAUGH]
>> That's gonna be a blast.
[MUSIC]
That's it.
>> All right, cool.
>> Okay, thanks man.
>> Absolutely, fun stuff.
>> You the man.
>> Lori White, right here, folks.
>> Guthrie Trapp.
