In this section, you can have call and response sessions with experienced skratch djs. They'll skratch the questions, and you skratch the answers. Here, you can try to copy them or just freestyle. Try out the skratches you've learned and put them together in your own way. It's that easy!

When you get better, you can post your own call and response "sessions" for the training dojo so that others can skratch along with you too!

All right these are baby scratchers.
This is the first scratch you're gonna
learn, it's really easy.
It's just moving the record back and
forth.
And it was invented by Grand Wizard
Theodore,
you probably know the story already.
You know, he was in his room, in the
headphones, and
he was moving the record back and forth.
And his mom came in and interrupted him,
but in his headphones it was like, hey,
[NOISE] that sound, you know.
That's the baby scratch.
It's called the scratch.
But you know, nowadays with all these
scratches it's called the baby scratch cuz
it's the first one you learn.
So basically you're just gonna move the
record back and
forth [NOISE] different tones pitches the
faster you move
it the higher the pitch gets the slower
you move it.
[MUSIC]
The lower it gets.
Play with different rhythms.
Sixteenth notes, and triplets.
[MUSIC]
One two three,
one two three, one two three, one two
three.
[MUSIC]
Eighth notes.
[MUSIC]
Quarter notes.
[MUSIC]
And so on.
So just kinda, just mess around and have a
good time with the baby scratch.
[MUSIC]
[SOUND] That's the baby scratch.
