Training Dojo

In this section, you can have call and response sessions with experienced skratch djs. They'll skratch the questions, and you skratch the answers. Here, you can try to copy them or just freestyle. Try out the skratches you've learned and put them together in your own way. It's that easy!

When you get better, you can post your own call and response "sessions" for the training dojo so that others can skratch along with you too!

[MUSIC]
So okay, righty, righty, right.
As next, we filter our pattern three,
at first a little demo of this sequence
and let's go
[MUSIC]
okay as of this pattern, we now cut every
record motion, with the transformer
clicker, 1/16 time.
So, we start pattern by playing base-drum
high-hat As the previous one,
as in release and after the high-hat comes
in, we move the record back
to the start point of the high-hat and let
the sound met reel play until,
the snare comes in on the two-beat, in
direct succession.
Like this here.
[SOUND] Yeah?
[SOUND]
So and you must try to keep in time, yeah.
The tempo is important.
We can try this, at first over a hi-hat.
[SOUND]
One, two, three, four.
[MUSIC]
Oh, sorry.
[MUSIC]
One, two, three, four.
[MUSIC]
Your turn.
[MUSIC]
Your turn.
[MUSIC]
Okay, this is the first step.
Next we incorporate, the transformer
clicker.
Like this.
[SOUND]
Yeah?
[MUSIC]
Okay, this is the first quarter as next,
we perform the same practical conversion
as is in, as in the pattern two.
That means we, or that after the snare,
we'll sound it on the two beat.
We move the record.
So after this [SOUND] We move the record,
back to the start point and
play, the bass drum, hi-hat sequence once
again.
[SOUND] That means subsequently [SOUND]
Yeah?
[SOUND]
But
the important is to create the groove or
to keep in time with the grooves,
it means [SOUND]
Yeah, you must feel it.
[SOUND]
So, once again.
[SOUND]
So without using the cross fader
[MUSIC]
Over high-hat [SOUND]
One, two, three, four.
[SOUND]
So okay, in direct succession,
a back stroke follows to repeat the bass
drum high-hit?
Sequence [SOUND] And only if the high-hat
comes in, we play this segment once again,
so we double the high-hat, and the snare
sounds on the four beat.
That means, our beginning [SOUND]
Yeah?
[SOUND] This is the.
[SOUND]
You can also play this with the bass drum,
or by doubling the base drum as in the
previous, sequence, pattern two.
That means [SOUND]
Yeah.
This was a previous pattern and
now we double the hi hat to ensure that
our snare comes in.
On the four beat, you know?
This is like mathematics a little bit.
[SOUND] That means now.
[SOUND]
Yeah?
[SOUND]
So a little Q and A for you.
One, two, three, let's go.
[MUSIC]
Okay, I can also, slow down the tempo for
demonstration.
Really slow now.
[MUSIC]
Yeah?
[MUSIC]
Yeah.
[MUSIC]
Yeah.
[MUSIC]
Okay, so
the closing off of this pattern is the
same as in pattern two and yeah.
We move only the record back to the start
point.
So, the entire sequence goes like this.
At first in slow motion.
[MUSIC]
So in our, in the original tempo.
Let's go.
[MUSIC]
So, okay this is it.
I hope you got it.
Try to master it.
Download the hi hat in ADPPM for training,
also this sample.
And yeah, this was the first lesson
concerning
BHS combo so there are many other
variations possible, okay?
I hope you like it, and bye bye
[MUSIC]
