The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum just announced its first exhibition of 2019, American Currents: The Music of 2018 where they will be honoring their take on the top stories, memorable trends, and noteworthy icons of the past year in country music. The exhibit will be open on Friday, March 8, 2019 and will run through February 8, 2020.

The annual American Current’s exhibit offers insight on the extraordinary milestones and accomplishments in the realm of country music, and explores a multitude of genres that exist under the veil such as Americana, folk, and bluegrass. The exhibit has been known to highlight anything from new faces in the industry, exceptional chart accomplishments, tour success, collaborations, and well deserved accolades.

This year, our very own Missy Raines will be featured in the exhibit along with the First Ladies of Bluegrass featuring Alison Brown (banjo), Becky Buller (fiddle), Sierra Hull (mandolin), and Molly Tuttle (guitar). This all female supergroup made their debut, along with special guests Phoebe Hunt and Sally Van Meter, in the summer of 2018 at the 46th annual Rocky Grass Festival in Lyons, Colorado. The ladies went on to perform during Wide Open Bluegrass in Raleigh, North Carolina following the IBMA World of Bluegrass convention in late September of that year.

It is no surprise that these ladies were chosen to be featured on this exemplary platform, allowing the museum to highlight their unique talents, musical achievements, and memorable accolades while touching on their significance in country music history. The First Ladies of Bluegrass were so-named because each member was the “first lady” to win an International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) award in their respected instrument category. The group also came together at an appropriate time where the the height of the #metoo movement was making a global impact across the entertainment industry. This new, all female powerhouse quickly became widely accepted and sought after quintet in the country music and bluegrass realm.
