Musicians Around the World Tune In for the Big Bluegrass Virtual Masterclass
On Friday, July 12, online viewers from around the world participated in a free Virtual Bluegrass Masterclass hosted by ArtistWorks, starring bluegrass titans Tony Trischka (banjo), Mike Marshall (mandolin), and Michael Daves (guitar, vocals).
Joining these master instructors were three winners of our Big Bluegrass Giveaway; Texas native and mandolin player Jerry Bradley, vocalist Ronna Dansky of Washington state, and Virginia-based banjo player Will Eller. The three musicians were flown out to ArtistWorks HQ in Napa, C.A. to learn — live and in-person — with Tony, Mike and Michael. This full day of instruction and jamming was put on display for an international community of musicians, who tuned in online, soaked in the valuable lessons, and even asked their own questions through video messages.
The winners also received a one-year VIP subscription to any ArtistWorks music instruction course. Banjoist Will Eller is looking forward to beginning his learning experience, sharing, "I hope to learn more about playing melodies in Scruggs style, and more about techniques associated with Tony’s style of playing."
Additionally, ten ArtistWorks students had the opportunity to attend the event in-person. These lucky participants watched the live instruction as it happened right in the studio, got an inside-look at the ArtistWorks sound room, and had a private hour-long workshop with their teacher.
The day wrapped up with the master instructors and students joining together for an intimate jam session. All in all, the event was an unforgettable experience for our contest winners, instructors, and the entire ArtistWorks team.
