The NAMM Show 2019 Overview

Everyone knows that The NAMM Show is the emblematic gathering of the musical tribes. Innovation and fresh inspiration are on display at the crossroads as some of the biggest industry tycoons come together to share new product introductions, business opportunities, and networking possibilities.

This year, we had a handful our of master musicians attend the conventions such as: Nathan East (electric multi-style bass), Guthrie Trapp (electric country guitar), Peter Erskine (drums), Craig Chee & Sarah Maisel (ukulele), and Paul Gilbert (electric rock guitar). Our Co-Founder and CEO Patricia Butler, alongside our Vice President John Graves, attended on behalf of the ArtistWorks team this year and as one of the global leaders of the music industry. Upon their return, I asked John about his experience at The NAMM Show 2019, and this is what he had to say:

When I arrived at the NAMM Show Friday morning, I immediately thought to myself "it's good to be back!". The all-too-familiar sound of pedal demos, cymbals crashing, basses slapping and about a thousand different conversations happening within my immediate area. This year's NAMM was busy and fast-paced as ever, but everybody seemed in very high spirits and ready to take the weekend by storm.

Most attendees know that NAMM can feel like one big blur. So much to see and hear, phenomenal music, and about a hundred business card exchanges with people you can't wait to follow up with when you get home. An obvious highlight from this year's show was Saturday's big announcement from Marshall Amps: The "Plug and Learn" series with Paul Gilbert. powered by ArtistWorks. This is something I had been working on with Paul and our partners over at Marshall since June of last year. It was exciting to say the least, finally putting out the announcement and making this content public was rewarding. I can't thank Paul or the folks over at Marshall enough for all the work they put in. We are happy to partner with a company that bases their business around similar core values as ours: excellence and authenticity, together we will Teach the World Music.

Guthrie Trapp Performance - NAMM Show 2019

I was also lucky enough to catch Guthrie Trapp performing on the Vox stage inside their booth. There was an incredible group of musicians on stage that night with Guthrie, including Lindsay Ell and Sadler Vaden. They closed with a powerful version of Hendrix's "Little Wing" and I got all 5 1/2 minutes of Guthrie's guitar solo recorded on my phone. I've showed that video to at least 10 friends and co-workers in the last couple days.

The weekend was full of creative conversations with potential partners. It's exciting to remember how many people across the music industry see what ArtistWorks is doing and want to be a part of it. I can't wait to announce some of the partnerships that were made this weekend, but those will have to remain private until a proper announcement can be made. Who knows, it might take place at next year's NAMM! See you there!
