Peter and Eric’s Adventure in Sardinia

On November 25th, 2018 two of ArtistWorks world-renowned instructors, Peter Erskine (Jazz Drums), and Eric Marienthal (Jazz Saxophone), performed together in Sanluri, Sardinia for the annual Culture Festival.

The Culture Festival, began in 2008, as an event that embraces all types of art including: music, theater, dance, literature, poetry, painting, sculpture, ceramics, cinema, photography, and more. Its goal is to promote the culture of Sardinia and its young artists in various fields.

Peter was kind enough to share some candid photos offering a unique view of Culture Festival from a performer’s perspective which we’ve included for you here. He told us, “The photos come from a project that Eric and I both worked on in Sardinia (Italy), with composer/pianist Alessandro Di Liberto … along with percussionist Neil Percy from the London Symphony Orchestra and bassist Jasper Somsen from the Netherlands …Music is, indeed, the universal language (and, so is good food).”

Eric and Peter also recorded an album’s worth of new music composed by pianist Alessandro De Liberto while preparing for the concert.
