Hello ArtistWorks Popular Piano School! I just got back from an amazing week at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California! NAMM stands for National Association of Music Merchants, and is one of the largest conventions showcasing the latest and greatest in the wonderful world of music! I had a chance to try out some of the most incredible pianos being made today. The picture above is me playing the Grand Bohemian, a custom-made piano by Boesendorfer of Vienna. For a cool $750,000, you can have this beauty in your home (I need to save my pennies...)

Check out my Pinterest board for more fun pictures from my week at NAMM!

NAMM is the largest most prestigeous Music Industry Trade Show in the world.

It is not open to the general public, and thousands of companies and musicians (such as Stevie Wonder) attend. It takes place each year in Southern California. This year as I did last year, I attended through my membership in the Grammy's.

I had several on camera interviews includng some interviews about different singer-gear at company booths such as Sennheiser, TC-Helicon and Hercules Stands.

I also had meetings with a number of other mic and music equipment companies.

A number of companies will be sending me new equipment to test and review which I'll share with all my ArtistWorks voice students as it happens.

The NAMM Show is a huge extravaganza that happens every year at the Anaheim Convention Center. Music related companies of all kinds set up elaborate booths in the hopes of catching the attention of musicians and industry related folks. New products are unveiled with an emphasis on cutting edge technology and next-level design. World famous musicians roam the halls between scheduled appearances and performances - if you're lucky, you might even spot Stevie Wonder!

We had several of our ArtistWorks instructors making the rounds at NAMM, here's some hightlights:

Hugh Sung at NAMM 2015

Dear ArtistWorks Online Popular Piano Students,

Greetings from the 2015 NAMM Show in sunny Anaheim, California! When I left Philadelphia a few days ago, the weather was bitterly cold and snow was starting to fall heavily all across the eastern seaboard. So heavily, in fact, that I almost missed my connecting flight from Washington DC to Dallas, but fortunately United Airlines came to the rescue and put me on a direct leg to Los Angeles (travel tip: ALWAYS sign up for text alerts with the airline you're flying on! Thanks, United!) What a relief to step off of the plane in sunny, 72-degree California weather at the end of my flight!

NAMM stands for the National Association of Music Merchants, a non-profit organization that provides a wide array of resources for music education and business support for the music industry. Every January, NAMM hosts its annual convention, bringing together one of the largest gatherings of music manufacturers, M.I. (music industry) professionals, and of course, artists and bands, from all over the world. Truly a musical mecca that provides a fascinating overview of the world of music!
