I'll just throw you one more.
This one's called a rough.
This is when a drummer
goes [NOISE] you know,
so,

so that's just four, five,
six draw to seven blow.

And then you
can start doing
back and forth.

Some of those were just
one direction, some where two.
I was mixing, thinking about notes and
rhythmic breathing right there.
For example, the beginning of
my harmonica concerto, I use
[MUSIC].

So it's a mixture of notes,
changing breathing patterns,
having a melody that goes between
the bottom and the top of what I play.
Except it's very fast.

And then it goes
[MUSIC].
It's all sorts of arpeggiated patterns
that I have as a combination now, of these
rhythmic breathing things and thinking
about notes and thinking about bends.

That's a Spanish phrygian run.
[MUSIC]
And all of these fast runs
are much easier for me now,
after I started working on
the rhythmic breathing rudiments,
sometime in the mid 1990s.
So I think that's about all I have to
say about it for now, but if you work on
double stroke, triple stroke, quadruple
stroke rolls, paradiddles, and roughs.
