About Paul Gilbert
Rock Guitarist Paul Gilbert began playing by ear at 9 years old and spent his teenage years playing in bars around Pittsburgh, PA. At 17, Paul moved to Hollywood to attend the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT.) At 18, he was hired as GIT's youngest instructor. At the same time, Paul released the first album with his band RACER X, which became one of the top-selling acts in the L.A. club scene. In 1988, Paul joined forces with bassist Billy Sheehan to form MR. BIG. The band went on to have #1 chart success with their single, "To Be With You," and sell out multiple nights at Japan's Budokan arena. Paul's "Intense Rock" series of instructional videos became legendary for their clarity, humor, and jaw-dropping technique. Paul has also recorded over 20 albums as a solo artist, performed on Joe Satriani's G3 tour, is a long-time endorser of Ibanez guitars, and hosts The Great Guitar Escape camp. Through his ArtistWorks course, Paul breaks down all his iconic playing techniques and practice drills with the enthusiasm and approachability he's known for.

of lessons unlearning years of bad technique and picking up the new skills. By the time I hit the middle of the intermediate classes, I had a Karate Kid ("wax on wax off") moment where I realized that things I used to perceive as difficult were actually just combinations of techniques from the fundamentals section of the lessons, but executed together quickly. Bottom line, I have run though this entire course multiple times and it has dramatically improved my playing and helped me to move from being a guy in one local band to someone who is asked to fill in for many bands in the market where I play. I am playing things now, I never thought were possible for me prior to taking this course.
Aside from the amazing lessons, you also get to personally interact with Paul Gilbert, which is amazing. He identifies issues with your technique and assigns you personal lessons to fix those issues. He will also teach you anything you want to learn that is not included in the course. Over the years he has taught me how to play literally every song on Van Halen I and many other specific song or solo requests. He has also drilled down on special technique requests like tapping, sweep picking, and slide guitar. Aside from my own lessons, the Artistwork hub allows you to search and view all the personal lessons Paul has made for others in the course. So, in addition to the hundreds of actual course lessons, there are thousands of personal video exchange lessons at a wide variety of ability levels. So, for example, while I was learning Van Halen I, I also watched a bunch of lessons Paul was teaching another student that focused solely on Jake E. Lee's technique, etc.
Because of this ongoing feedback, I have stayed with these lessons for many years and don't see myself leaving this course. Paul has so much to offer and the Artistworks platform gives access to a superstar at such a reasonable rate (just one personal lesson with Paul would cost hundreds of dollars), how can you go wrong? tastic, but I dont see anyone else complaining about the lack of pdf's on the forums. Although I do see complaints in the comments under the videos. It wouldnt be hard for Paul to make a single pdf with all the tabs for each video. I think he could do this in a day or two with software that prints out tabs. nger band days. There is a great amount of lessons available and a huge backlog of Video Exchanges to learn from, most of the time I want to ask something I do a search and can see someone else asked the same thing and I learn from past VEs. Paul Gilbert is a gentleman, master guitar player and extraordinary teacher. 5 stars! Read LessRead less about I'm in my mid 30s and played guitar
rally 3 lessons in one every time I login. Amazing, and very upset with myself for not signing up earlier. I have been working on the music theory course, basic piano and sight-reading classes. I just couldn't be happier with ArtistWorks.
Thanks for EVERYTHING!

is insane. There are troves of rabbit holes to explore and learn from beyond his comprehensive course. I was a member for 3 years (nonconsecutive maybe 4) and would still be today finances willing. Although I did not take the opportunity to participate in the video responses watching them really inspired me. Hopefully in the future I will be able to join again, and this time take advantage of the opportunity to send him videos. My ego wanted to impress, and I missed the chance for some of that individualized attention that literally speaks to all students. Paul sir you are Amazing! Never change. Learning from you has been a great distraction from painful injuries. I catch as much as I can from you and others on Youtube and Truefire (another amazing source worth paying for!). If you are not already signed up on Artistworks, do it and please give Paul your consideration. - Bradley Read LessRead less about As a decades long forever student of

I've already played 500 gigs with 20 bands and recorded X number of CDs... etc." I can tell you that Paul immediately found my weak spots (plural) and... he is the most humble and humorous person. my life I actually feel I may have some musical talent. I have a long way to go. But paul is taking me there. Just do the work you get out what you put in. But if you do you will improve. I am so excited for this journey Paul is taking me on. Don’t be shy submit a VE thats where you really learn. That allows paul to help you. One last thig VE paul before you play the G chord. You’ll have to join to get the running joke. Hope to see you soon. Paul can help you no matter what your skill level is. If you want someone who isn’t very good watch my original videos. Don’t watch the newer, with Paul’s direction they are only getting better. It took me a longtime to submit a ve I was self conscious. I now see that was a mistake. s, I believe his true calling is teaching! Like many out there, I go through various online instructional videos on other platforms, and there is no sense of direction. Paul's course here at Artistworks has a roadmap to progress to achieve our goals to get better at guitar, with tips and tricks of a real Rock Guitarist. While I enjoy submitting my own video submissions for that direct interaction, I actually enjoy watching other students' submissions just as much. It is great to see other students at same/different levels as me, and to learn through their interactions with Paul. This is a great course! Read LessRead less about I have been a student of Paul
