Anyone attending The Ramble Festival in Maryland? |
Is there anyone in Bozeman Montana? I want to start a bluegrass jam. |

Hi!I was wondering... is anybody going to the Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival in the Netherlands? |
Hi everyone. I interviewed Wes Corbett last night for my podcast and we chatted about his last record 'Cascade', which features two ArtistWorks teachers (Sierra Hull on mandolin and Chris Eldridge on guitar and co-production).Thought I'd share it in case any of you are interested! |
I add my congratulations Bryan! You, of course , Bela and all of you in the group fully deserve it!! |
I’ll be in Savannah tomorrow night for the Béla Fleck concert. Can you please play Overton waltz? Thank you so much. |
Hello from Melbourne, good people. This course was heaven sent!!! I've started playing again after a few years of hardly ever touching my guitar, and I just can't understand how that happened :) I'm having an absolute blast with these lessons. Never really played seriously using a pick but always wanted to be able to be able to pull off that GD Jack-A-Roe Reckoning version intro :) A couple of weeks in, now I'm patiently working my way through the Picking Pattern Exercise No. 3 and getting ready to submit my first video. I only wish there was a finger style course that is structured similarly to this one as I'd be onto it in no time! Thank you, mr. Sutton. It's been a delight to be playing again. |
Keely AM, do you ever go to the Galax fiddlers convention? |
Hi, I am learning bluegrass bass so I can jam with my friends and neighbors who need a bass player in in SW Virginia! |
Anyone who lives in London, UK here? I’m looking for someone to jam with. I play banjo but also keys and guitar. Style of music not necessarily important. Ben |
Hi tony thanks for the comments on my last ve. You instructed me to try blackberry blossom in the key of c . I am well out of my depth here can you suggest any previous lesson to do to sharpen up or things I should study to get there cheers clint |
I paid for a three month mandolin plan with Mike Marshall, and unforseen circumstances prevented me from ever logging on. Can I still access the lessons. I paid $105.00 in May of this year. Help.... |
I just shared this in the Bluegrass Guitar school and thought I'd ask here too: A friend posed a question to be today that I thought I'd share for fun. He asked me "what is a perfect example of a Bluegrass song?". Not the best, but the one that shows the genre. On the spot, I said Bill Monroe doing Molly & Tenbrooks. Anyone have a better answer? |
Does anyone have any plans to go to Telluride Bluegrass Festival this year? I don't have a pod of 10 folks to go with, but if you have any extra space DM me!! :) |
Hello from Omaha, NE. Would love to connect with some people in the area that love bluegrass. |
Just finished watching Me and His Guitar ( a tribute to Tony Rice) - put together by Bryan Sutton. Thank you Bryan, it was informative, entertaining but above all very moving. There was so much love there for Tony Rice and his music. |
Hi Bluenugget. Hello back from London :) Hope you enjoy the course - I'm 3 months in and having a blast. My playing is improving every week |
Here's a hot tip - one of our banjo teachers has a livestream coming up: https://boxoffice.mandolin.com/collections/punch-brothers |
would anyone be interested in collaborating on a video with me? no matter where your from we could pick some tunes and create a video with us playing! I have done it before so it would be tons of fun, especially during quarantine! |
Dear Bluenugget, Welcome! I think you will find participating in the ArtistWorks community very rewarding. I am a beginning guitarist. Best of luck in your new venture. From, Michigan, USA |
Sounds like fun, Costafy, but I am located in Michigan. |
Hey y'all, im from northwestern PA, is there anyone around who would be down to jam? I have a fiddle player in addition!! |
A big HELLO from Cheshire England! My first days on Artistworks and with Bryan's curriculum. Just wanted to say a big thanks to you Bryan and to everybody else for having me in this wonderful learning community. I am an intermediate classical player but have always been a closet blue grass fan. I am very looking forward to learning to play this magical music, and of course; browsing all the video exchange lessons and listening to some wonderful playing from ya'll. |
That's good KennLeeFrisco! |
PatriciaB, I"m working on Homer the Roamer, and pretty much plateau'd on Grey Owl. I have the A and B parts down on Homer and will be moving to the C section this week. Its been a month long journey. I submitted the A and B to Bryan, you should see it soon. |
I'm in Richmond, VA and would love to meet folks to jam with! |
Congrats on the upcoming release Libby! |
EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT IS HERE!!!!!! :) CHECK THIS OUT!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtykTWPQnHM |
Have a super exciting announcement to make in hopefully just a few days! Stay tuned... ;-) |
Hi everyone, any upstaters here? Oneonta/Binghamton/Norwich. |
Speaking of Noam Pickelny, he’s featured in this virtual jam along with a few other folks you might recognize: |
Noam is one more incredible musician I’ve discovered just recently. Very interesting podcast. I’m not sure if this YouTube has been posted here before but it popped up when I was looking up some Noam songs a little while ago. It’s a promotional video for his album Universal Favorite and it is hilarious. Check it out. I’m gonna check out Universal Favorite later tonight when I have some time. If y’all have seen this before, forgive my bluegrass ignorance. https://youtu.be/W8YFuhVVZX8 |
Was meant to be the first day o Sorefingers so this is my replacement! |
Working on Wheel Hoss, Durang’s Hornpipe, and Dry Creek Summit! |
Currently working on "Abide With Me" fingerstyle guitar, and "Redwood" flatpicking! |
Hi all...what bluegrass tunes are you working on while at home? |
Chattanooga, TN area? |
@dzazvze You should check out Tony Watt. https://tonywattbluegrass.com/lessons Tony is big in the Boston bluegrass scene. He also offers lessons in the Albany NY area. |
Howdy! I've been looking for bluegrass jams outside of Pittsburgh. I'd love to get out to Ohio, Western NY, Central PA, West Virginia and Maryland to meet and play with new folks. Weeknights are tricky with the ‘ol day job, but I’m hoping to find some on Saturdays and Sundays when I’m not gigging. Thanks, in advance, for any recommendations in those areas! |
Anyone scheduled for Suwanne Spring Reunion March 18-20th? |
Any bluegrass guitar students planning to be at Wintergrass? Would enjoy talking with others who use the site. I’ll be working the festival so will be there through the weekend. Richarf |
Hi There. Anyone based in London (UK) fancy getting together to play through a few tunes? Maybe a guitarist or another mandolin player? Send me a message if you're interested and we can chat - Matt |
@tonydeaton I'm (usually) in DC and would be up for a bit of pickin here and there. Are you aware of any of the regular or semi-regular jam sessions in the area? |
Hi everyone on the forum. Just seeing if there are any bluegrass players in Melbourne Australia who'd like to get together and jam with a fairly novice (but keen ) player? |
Thanks MichaelDaves, we are proud to have two remarkably talented banjoists who teach as masterfully as they play! |
Big welcome to my friend and Noam Pikelny, ArtistWorks' newest instructor. Check out the blog post to learn more about his banjo school, coming this Spring. |
Any jams south of Cleveland? I know about GAR Hall is all. |
Fiddle |
If you agree, please kindly let them know. Thanks! :) |
Hello everyone, just wanted to throw this out there. I made a suggestion to AW that they could save a ton of space on their servers if they would revamp the favorites system, take out the pictures and make the tabs lists of hyperlinks, just like the search results. Imagine the time we could save searching our favorites! I feel like it’s something we need. I mean we can search, but the topic of the ve isn’t always in the title. :/ |
Hello Sierra! Enjoyed the lesson with the song Jerusalem Ridge |
Thought I'd make an introductory "why cello there", as I'll be rolling through Mike's course on mandocello. Hope to learn a lot from Mike and all y'all's submissions. |
Howdy guitar geeks(yeah, me too). Looking forward to digging in here! |
Hello. I'm a newbie here. I started playing ukulele and as my fingers got bigger, I transitioned to classical guitar. If you guys want to hear some cool uke, check me out on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGIAgxnKfjOOHtacYgtS9Qg Sarrafina |
Is any body using a tablet with a page turning pedal? What program do you use to arrange the pages to deal with repeats and coda's? PDF programs like Adobe Acrobat or other less expensive ones? |
Hello, I'm a flatpicking guitar student and I've recently moved to Geneva Switzerland. I played and sang in a Bluegrass band in the US and miss the music and camaraderie. IF there's anyone who sees this who lives in the area and would like to jam, please contact me. Love to play. Ian |
I was looking at the blues guitar course with Keith Wyatt. He uses electric guitar. Will an acoustic work for his program? I assume it would but doesn't hurt to make sure. |
Thx Phil |
Yes you can. I have done that and it simply adds it to your current membership. But to do it you must switch off the automatic renwel in your account settings which is easy to do. Switch it off and then purchase...it should just add it to your account from the date it finishes this time around...I have done it this way for a few schools over the past few years. |
@ Artistworks: My current membership will end in March. Can I book a 12 month plan now with the Holiday discount and use that to renew my membership in March? |
He'll be using backing tracks by BetterTrax/BetterSax. You can also purchase them here: https://bettertrax.com/ref/1/ |
Its pay as you wish |
Hey guys, Eric is gonna be performing an entire live-stream show of Jazz Standards this tuesday! https://www.stageit.com/EricMarienthal/91916 |
Eric:: “Growl Sound” question submitted under the title of “Muted Tonguing (2020.11.16). Yeah, I do another attempt at my nemesis ... Thank you for your time. - r |
hi |
Andy:: nice job on the YouTube version! I’ll put my other comments in the Forum... - r |
Andy:: Go to “Edit” ... ... then “Add Measures”. Put the number of measures you want the click “ok”. The 2nd page will automatically appear ... (....I think that’s right ...) - r |
OK thanks! In the meantime, if anyone else is trying to use the tag system, my workaround is to create a new tag and that opens the view to see your previously saved tags |
AndyPanda, there is currently an issue with the Tagging system as you have discovered. The tech team is aware but has not been able to resolve it yet. In the meantime we apologize for the inconvenience. |
Can anyone else see/find the button to open the "Tag" list in a video? It should be right next to the "Bookmark" icon underneath the video player and it's missing for me. The only way I can get to my saved tags is to create a new tag and that will open the list and show all my previously saved tags. |
Mickey - I've had the same bug uploading VE's lately. Try the first one again, it probably didn't send. I always make sure to copy my comment into a note on my computer in case this happens. Then I can go find it if I need to submit again. If you don't see the red bar on the homepage, the upload was not successful, even if it says it was. (Sometimes that can take a few minutes to show up.) |
I uploaded a new video recording the night before last night, including a lengthy comment. It then said, "Your upload has completed and is processing", but I fear the video was not uploaded. The same happened today. The fact that I had the chance to upload a video again shows that the first one wasn't uploaded (there's an upload limit of 1 video). Does anyone experience the same? Quite unfortunate. |
So sorry to hear that you are unwell Craig. Keep safe and get well soon. |
Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a Peerless Martin Taylor Maestro. Anyone have one to sell? Do you by any chance know a reliable dealer I could contact to have it shipped to Italy? if you have any information for me you can write to me at manuel.consigli@gmail.com Thanks for your help, a warm greeting to you all! Manuel |
@Salma Could mean a string ensemble playing pizzicato or an ensemble of string instruments that have only instruments that are played with plectrums. |
Hi dears, What is plucked strings orchestra means?what type of instruments are used? I searched for the term but not sure if I got the meaning? Thank |

Patricia, don’t let that troll get you down. |
Mike - I had the problem a few days ago and Dan in customer service fixed it right away - perhaps send him a customer service request. They are very quick!!! |
The Lesson Materials seem to be not working today. I can't get any backup tracks or printable stuff. Am I the only one with this problem |
oops. Sorry didn't mean to do that. But whilst I'm here, hi from the UK. This is a brilliant course! I love it. : ) |
uk |
Thanks for your thorough advice on the left hand. I get in the trap of thinking there is only one way. So I keep experimenting to make it comfortable and sound better. Stay well. Pamela |
can you download any of the video lessons |
If there was an artist works Dave Stryker tshirt with something witty or pithy on it where Dave got a chunk of the profits, i think i could find the cash. Or a coffee mug. Extra points if it's funny. Anyone second? #covid |
If you are interested, today at 5:30 PM (EST), live on internet. Heineken Ventana (window to) al Jazz. Humberto Ramírez and his Big Band. |
Mike hall |
Thank you Adam O'Connor! I can bookmark on regular lessons but cannot bookmark Paul's VE lessons. Maybe try to book mark Paul's response to a student video. The help people say I'm just out of luck because I only have a 3 month subscription but I went over the term of agreement and it does not anything about that limitation. |
Hey there Reaktorplayer. I don't know if anyone answered your question by another means. I have only the 3 month subscription at the moment but bookmark worked for me. If you view the lesson without looking at it in full screen there are little icons at the bottom off to the right. The furthest one is bookmark and when you click it you can aceess it from your profile page. Scroll down and there they are. Hope that helps. |
Thank you berndg. I take it you are well, safe at home too? |
I just downloaded Dolby On to my android phone. IMHO It jumps the quality of audio recording with a cell phone dramatically. |
Thank you berndg. Peace. |
Hello music friends, unfortunately I also hear very sad news from the USA, please stay at home and protect yourself and remain confident and optimistic that new medications will help quickly. Greetings from Germany Bernd Online teaching is exploding at many music schools in Germany. I hope that the big companies like Mercedes, BMW, Apple or Amazone will thank their customers with generous donations and help to defeat Corona |
