Tony Prince InterviewRob Swift has put up his interview with the legendary Tony Prince. To quote Rob, "If you’re a DJ, I don’t care if you’re a club, radio or bedroom DJ, and don’t know who Tony Prince is PUNCH YOURSELF IN THE FACE RIGHT NOW."

In all seriousness, this is a great read for all of us skratch nerds with the man we all know as the founder of the DMC (aka that crazy British guy who announces the DMC World Finals every year)And who better to interview him than Rob Swift??

Z Trip Serato Icon

The Serato Icon Artist Series continues with DJ Z Trip. Back in high school when I heard there was another "Live at Future Primitive" mix featuring the "Bombshelter DJs" Z Trip and Radar, I had to have it. This was after I'd already been obsessing over Shortkut and Cut Chemist's Future Primitive mix and was ready for anything Future Primitive related. Needless to say I was blown away by the intricate mixing and flawless scratching, it's stilll one of my favorites. I went on to dig up many of Z Trip's other live mixes and was always impressed at how original and creative he was, not afraid to go out on a ledge and play some crazy mashup (long before mashups were even known as mashups, all manual vinyl blending!).

Ode to the DJ Scratch Vol 1

Here's a nice mix from ESP that features classic tracks by some of the pioneers of scratch music: "Ode to the DJ Scratch: Vol. 1"

ESP has been putting up mixes on Mixcrate for 3 years now (I highly recommend his "Ode to the Vinyl Mastermix" series), he's like a DJ historian with how he presents this music back to the community. He also runs the Master Mix Crew blog which is definitely worth visiting.

Click on the image to listen/download the mix from Mixcrate.  If you're feeling the way it's going down, go ahead and give him some feedback so he knows you're out there appreciating what he's doing. Tell him ADA sent you!

Zeke and Kit Pop

The 2010 QSU Valedictorian, Zeke, has just put out this video with fellow Aussie DJ/Producer, Kit Pop. This is a nice look into what they've been working on together, quality editing and audio! The first 8 minutes or so is a behind the scenes look at them getting ready, and then it moves into live footage from a recent show they did.

Traktor Z2 ReviewLong time contributor of QSU, DJ E-Na (aka our Man In Japan), coming at you with a review of the highly anticipated Traktor Control Z2 DJ Mixer.

E-Na breaks it down giving you his personal pros and cons. It's a pretty diesel looking mixer with a lot of bells and whistles so really glad to have a review "from the turntablist point of view". He covers just about everything so without further adieu here's E-Na's Z2 review!

Thank you all for coming out to the first ever QSU Open House! It was a blast, really aweseome to meet some more of my QSU brothers! I was so nervous speaking (those who were there can tell you - I literally froze up!).  I spoke from the heart though and hopefully made some sense. Congrats to our 2012 Valedictorian DJ IQ - exclusive interview coming soon!

Live at Voodoo Music Experience 2012

Now that's what I'm talkin bout! Soundboard quality audio of Q and D's set from the Voodoo Music Experience 2012, which took place in New Orleans last month. Always interesting to hear Q and D without the visuals, see if you can tell who's who! With such different styles, the hardcore skratch nerds always can. Click on the image or just listen in below - big up the Red Bull Academy Radio for making this available!

He's a fascinating character who's very passionate about music and skratching, so without further ado we bring to you: The Alex Sonnenfeld Interview.

sara and ryusei with qbert 2012

This video has been live for less than 24 hours and is already getting crazy amounts of attention. Filmed during the Japan Tour with D-Styles on April 2012, it's the long awaited session of Qbert skratching with Sara & Ryusei. 27 minutes of skratch nerdism!

Sara & Ryusei have been cutting it up since they were babies (literally), and now they're all grown up at ages 13 and 10.  I can only imagine how good these kids will be in the coming years, they've  already progressed a ton. Not just technically, but musically too - they got flow!
