Learn Classical Trumpet with David Bilger

“David Bilger is a great teacher and highly respected in the trumpet community, but the negatives are on the Artistworks side. 1. ) Without the option of being able to have my videos submitted and evaluated with feedback, the whole concept of what gives AW an advantage is no greater than just getting advice from David from Y**T**e. 2. ) No option for a discounted annual course is highly unusual for an AW teacher, so the monthly cost, while reasonable, is much higher on a per year basis than other courses. 3. ) I may look to other sources for my music education from now on because I've take 5-6 course on different instruments (I still play them all), but the teachers start at "way too high" a level and go higher too fast before a beginner skill-level can be formed. This might be the most frustrating problem with learning at AW. An example is Nathan East's course on electric bass. He talks about and shows practice scales at beginner level that is way too advanced before beginner skills and hand strength are formed. This is not to slant Nathan, who is respected at the very highest level in his field. However, being an A+-list musician does not a good teacher make. The other course that didn't really spend more than a smigdeon of time at the beginner level was the classical guitar course. I just finally gave up. I certainly cannot be the only beginner that was frustrated. . . and I've play blues-rock and folk guitar for over 6 decades. 3. ) AW has apparently dropped the ability to call and talk with a human being, going to the submission-receipt-data-based thing that so many corporations have gone to which only serve to depersonalize the company, making it less user-friendly. These are concerns for me going forward if I am to remain an Artist Works student customer.”
