About the educator

Andy Falco

Andy Falco is a Grammy award-winning guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer from Long Island, New York, who specializes in American roots music. Since 2007, he has been the guitarist for The Infamous Stringdusters, the progressive bluegrass band that won the 2018 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album for Laws of Gravity and has earned multiple IBMA awards. With the band, he has toured extensively across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Andy has also performed or recorded with artists including Phil Lesh, David Bromberg, Levon Helm, Joss Stone, Keller Williams, and The Travelin' McCourrys. His musical foundation was built playing blues, funk, and R&B in the Long Island and New York City club scenes of the 1990s, where he had the chance to learn from and sit in with musicians like Jimmy Vivino, Johnny Johnson, and David Amram. That path eventually led him to acoustic music and bluegrass, and after relocating to Nashville he toured and recorded as a side musician before joining the Stringdusters. Alongside his work with the band, Andy leads his own projects, including his solo album The Will of the Way and Andy Falco's Blues Laboratory, and plays with bassist Travis Book in Falco & Book Play Garcia, a tribute to Jerry Garcia. He also produces, engineers, and mixes albums at his studio on Long Island between tours.
