Nathan East is one of the most in-demand bassists of all time. As the regular touring bassist for Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Toto, and Fourplay with Bob James, Nathan East has played with just about everyone in the music industry. Seamlessly blending rock, pop and funk, East’s bass influences include Charles Mingus, James Jamerson, Jack Bruce, Paul McCartney and Monk Montgomery.In the studio, Nathan East has played bass for legendary artists including Barry White, Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Elton John, Daft Punk, and many more. He played bass on Eric Clapton's multi-Grammy award winning Unplugged album, as well as the song “Change the World”, which won a Grammy in 1997. Nathan East also played bass on the Daft Punk's Grammy winning album Random Access Memories and in 2014 released his debut album as a solo artist to worldwide acclaim. Nathan has a B.A. in Music Performance from University of California San Diego, and as an educator has been teaching how to play bass guitar for decades. Nathan East has endorsed Yamaha instruments since 1981, and developed his own custom Yamaha 5-string bass called the BBNE2.

There are lots of examples, but there are no explanations on Nathan’s line of thought for creating the lines he used. I wished to get more information on his ideas and how he appro...

Great Course!

I got a lot out of this course when I did it! Nathan gave me a lot of pointers on groove and his curriculum gave me the rest for different grooves to play on the bass. Really enjoy...
