I just sent Artist Works about 95% of the backing tracks that were missing. There are few still missing. I will either find them or re- record them. I am really sorry that this happened, but I guess some things were lost when they changed to this new layout/format.

30 day challenge

Hello out there! In the spirit of the new year, we have a great way to get 2017 started off right: playing more music. To keep you focused on the path to progression, there’s a new section to look out for in the Learning Channel. We’re calling it the 30 Day Challenge. Here’s how it works:

  1. 30 day challenger badgeChoose a song or technique you want to improve on this year.
  2. Record a video of yourself playing it the best to your ability and upload it to the 30 Day Challenge page.
  3. Once your teacher replies, commit to practicing every day for a month based on their feedback and other lessons in your school.
  4. On or before February 15th, upload a second video to the 30 Day Challenge area of yourself playing the same song or technique. Soon your teacher will let you know how much progress you made in the 30 Day Challenge!

Anyone who participates will get the official 30 Day Challenger badge upon submission of your second video and it'll be a great reminder for the rest of the year to keep up with your playing. Remember, anyone who practices daily is always a winner around here.

Are you in? Let the 30 Day Challenge begin!

This is where I'll be for the next 4 days, in New Orleans, where it will be COLD! This is an amazing gathering. I gave a clinic on my approach to Coltrane's "Giant Steps" at the one in San Diego 2 years ago. This year, I'll be playing my compositions "Aguas Quietas" (there's a lesson here on it) and "The Ravinia Merengue". I will answer videos when I get back. Send me some more!

I recorded this in the mid- '90's for John Darnall's "A Lite Jazz Christmas Eve". Hit the "Show More" button, and click on "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" 38:02. Hope you enjoy this mellow little track.
