Yes, I took a little break to compose, reorganize my house, do a bunch of touring, and now I'm back and ready to answer video exchanges PROMPTLY. I just answered 5, which you can check out. I also voted today in our American presidential elections. Illinois offers an early voting option, so I did it, along with MANY others.

harmonica

The harmonica is such a diverse instrument. It can go from being soft to vibrant, and can be both a lead melody or a background instrument. Since it's a pocket-sized portable instrument that can be played anywhere, it has a very personalized sound and feel. Traditional campfire songs go well with the instrument, like "Amazing Grace" which dates all the way back to 1779.

Hey everyone- I keep saying this in the Welcome Messages, but I think I have to show you a Performance. There are about 30 of them in the +Music part of the school, and I'll be putitng more up there soon.

Lessons and Video Exchanges are great ways to learn, but so is watching a performance. So check this out, and the others as well.

My camera is acting strange. I HOPE it is intermittent and goes back to normal. Meanwhile I am trying to answer videos as the camera allows me to do so...

I've had an amazing time at Victor Wooten's Bass and Nature Camp for the past 2 days. I got to meet so many great people/ great musicians, played a concert with Victor and Roy, taught 3 classes a day on 2 of my favorite subjects, Rhythmic Transposition/Resolution and (my pet project) The Melody of Rhythm©.
And at the end of the second day, a little surprise...Bela Fleck showed up, so we (The Flecktones) played a few tunes and talked about how we started, how we write tunes together, and much more. What a great experience! Before that I played a great weekend with Corky Siegel at The Yellow Moon Café in Cobden, IL. And now I'm back in the saddle and I'll FINALLY answer your videos really soon.

Amazing experience at the Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival. Words cannot describe this event. There were thousands of harmonica players- chromatic, diatonic, tremolo harps, combos, orchestras- it was a mind-opening experience for me. The organizers couldn't have been nicer, the food was amazing, and Richard Weiss of Hohner made sure that I was well taken care of. I got to play Jazz, Blues, and perform my concerto, too.

And now I am back home and I will answer all the videos that have been accumulating here. So thanks for your patience, and see you soon!

I just played The Green Mill in Chicago and The Barn at Prairie Pines in Wichita, KS with Trio Globo. It was a wonderful little tour, 4 nights of great music. Next weekend I play at Turner Hall in Galena, IL, Café Carpe in Ft. Atkinson, WI, and outdoors in Long Grove, IL with Corky Siegel. Come if you can. Corky makes me sing one tune. If I can do that, anyone can. Hope you are having a great Summer, or if you are in the Southern hemisphere, a great Winter.</p>

I finally got home from the Flecktones tour. It was a great success and we hope to do more of this. And I will start answering videos tomorrow! I hope that some of you watched yesterday's Live Google Hangout. It was a lot of fun and those guys can really play- sorry that Scott didn't do any playing. He's a fantastic guitarist.
