I'll show you
one other neat thing about Whiskey Before
Breakfast that I, I sort of came upon.
It's really fun to share with you guys.
A way to back up that last
Now playing,
Looking at what's going
on with the melody.
It's basically the one chord
And then what we did before was
the descending thing,
which works, but
what's nice a nice voicing there.
We're, we're,
we're going down in the scale okay?
So, there's a there's a six minor there.
One seven six and
we look back at going back to a one down
at seven to set up the back phrase, So,
you know, looking at again, we are sort of
connecting chords here and discovering,
you know, neat little voice things that
might just happen that might just work.
This is just something I stumbled upon and
you can,
you know, find similar things too.
Really work, the melody worked really well
With more that standard E seven voicing
Versus A five over seven.
And sometimes it'll just happen leave that
for the last thing to cover cuz it's just
like I find these things all the time.
And, you know, you don't necessarily plan
for, but in this, this idea of,
of, it's kind of improvising with your
And trying to allow for things to happen,
try things out in practice.
That's one of the great things again about
this site here is that you can use
these tracks here, use these lead tracks
in a video of you trying stuff out and
we can talk about if it worked or not, or
if it didn't, what could have been changed
Or if it did, you know, what was good
about it,
or how could it have been maybe even
And so it's it's again like we discussed
earlier this,
a lot of this is, it seems kinda endless
and some of it is.
And it, and it's scratching the surface
on, on a lot of great ways to interpret
yourself as a rhythm player and what you
can bring to the picture.
And one last thing I wanna show you
concerning the, the last descending move
of whiskey before breakfast is something
that I, kinda happened upon as I was just,
you know, trying different things and, you
again being aware of that descending line
Works really well.
And then you've got your five over seven.
Which leads to that six minor.
With the A-minor shape.
You know, in,
in looking at that two five relationship.
E is a fifth of that A,.
So you know,.
Which if you think about it
that E, that five over seven is a lot like
You know, an E minor seven kind of form,
as we looked at earlier.
So for descending.
That E kind of sets up that
minor in a nice way, and we are just, this
little spot of this descending phrase,
but it, it how these, using these kind of
things to really
create a really nice picture of what is
going on any given moment.
What this lead me to was you know,
realizing that, that E kind of lead to A,
but the
The minor was a little
A little sort of stodgy sounding.
But, but in E major,
Made a really nice leading.
And I, and I bring it up, you know,
the whole thing was
And so it leads really nicely.
And it's a, sort of a beautiful kinda
And I'm, I bring it up here at the last,
just to,
just to sort of encourage you to find
stuff like that yourself.
It's, we've seen how a lot of these
voicings and,
and, embellishments based on, you know,
interval relationships of, of,
of a one going to a four, or a, a five
preceded by a two.
And how to use those kind of things.
And it's really sort of open ended.
And I look forward to getting some video
submissions with these tunes here.
I think there's a lot,
as we've discussed in improvisation, with
just trial and error.
And that's, you know, that's why I'm here.
I look forward to seeing some things that
worked and seeing some things that didn't
work and we can talk about both of those,
and how to make the things that didn't
work better, or make the things that did
work even better.
And so, I look forward to to hearing all
and and just to leave you with one thing.
Just remember that when you're playing
rhythm in this kind of music,
the, the goal is to be strong and
And so, always, always remember that, when
you're, when you're trying new things,.
Don't forget that you, you are essentially
the the motor behind
the the you know the big machine that is a
blue grass band, or a, or a fiddle band or
in a jam session.
Rhythm guitar is an important part and
this is a way to kind of maximize it and
enjoy some embellishment.
But don't forget the, the initial reason
of, of what you can do as a rhythm player.
So, remember that, and I'll look forward
