Finger Twisters number 4, here we go.
So if you're playing these in order,
all five finger twisters,
if you're playing these and not feeling
the fatigue in your embouchure,
you're a better person than I,
cuz I'm definitely feeling them.
That's the whole point.
We're in the gym.
We're working out.
No pain, no gain.
So I hesitate to say that, because you
don't want to be in the habit of playing,
and I've gotta make it to
the top of the mountain.
That's not the point.
We wanna get our strength to the point
where we never really do fatigue.
That's the beauty of playing
a woodwind instrument.
It's not like we're playing a brass
instrument where those guys have
a tougher job in that they have
endurance issues to worry about,
and if you've got a big gig
as a lead trumpet player,
you've got to be careful not
to play much during the day.
We, on the other hand,
get our strength to a certain point,
and then it's just
a matter of backing off.
So we have our air that can
take over the pressure, but
we wanna develop our muscles enough so
that we have endurance, but
we also wanna make sure that
are reeds are vibrating right.
So by backing off our pressure,
we're allowing that reed to vibrate,
and we're also doing ourself a great
service by relaxing somewhat.
Your embouchure will thank you.
So these exercises are designed to
build the strength in your whole body,
quite frankly, but
your embouchure in particular.
And of course,
fingers are rather important because they
are the ones that are being twisted.
So here we go.
So, as you can see,
we have a little progression now.
We arced during number three in the top
range, now we're starting to head down.
And these are coming back into the middle
of our range, and then we end with
number five, the 41 through 50, and
those deal with mostly low notes.
So here we go.
I've got my metronome set at 90 and
feel free to play along with me.
Even if you're playing tenor or
soprano, a B-flat instrument,
we'll be in force, but that's okay.
It's an exercise.
So off we go.
We're gonna articulate all these legato.
