We've done pull-offs where we pull-off the
But this time we're gonna hammer-on.
This requires you
to be able to push your finger on the neck
to get new notes and
the notes that I chose for this one are,
well let's see what they are.
We start with a D, and we just go
These are actually notes out of the blues
Those are good notes in the key of A.
Then going to the next string and doing
exactly the same thing.
Could be this little chromatic move before
we go back to the root.
So just a small hammer-on lick.
For this I'm not using the pinky only
because I like these notes better.
I wanted to get notes that I like to
so in this case, these finger were enough.
We'll eventually work our pinky into this,
but this is a good way to start,
and I wanna do a downstroke.
And a down.
So we'll go down, up, up, down.
That'll, that'll come into play later.
But I want you to work on that method of
Down, up, up, down.
All right so let's put this into the lick
listen to it a couple of times just to get
the sound in our head.
One, two, three.
Okay, I'm also,
just barely muting, because these lower
strings, they are so resonate.
[SOUND] Such a big note, that I want to
mute it a little bit to,
to, to make it a little smaller or
So because this is getting pretty fast.
These triplets are, are going by quick.
Duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh.
And if, if, with that much distortion,
if I let them ring out it could be a
So I'm starting to tighten them up a
little bit by muting.
Now if I have a clean sound.
I can leave them more open then.
Let's try both.
Let's try the clean one without muting.
So we'll go one, two, three, four.
then, we'll turn the distortion up, and
That really gives us control, especially
as we speed that up.
That's gonna start,
the muting is going to be really
So I'm just curious, I'm going to see how
fast I can get this real quick.
I didn't plan on doing it fast,
but this is such a great fast flick so,
[MUSIC] Yeah, those are some nice
Now we've done a lot of work with this
We've come up with so many different
endings for it, and this is the way you
build your ability to improvise.
Is you get a key, and you get a groove,
and you get a, a lick and
you come up with different endings.
So I think endings is, are one of the
biggest keys to improvising.
So you can play a lick.
Have one ending.
Yeah we, so we did a lot of different
You can put them all together, you can
come up with your own, but
this is a great way to learn to improvise
you're beginning to have a really good
You got the muted strings when you, when
you, when you bend.
You've got a,
my favorite bending and pull-off lick.
That's such a good one.
Oh, I mean,
really, you're ready for a career right

a band and
start rocking with this stuff, no problem.

rock songs so
