In this section, you can have call and response sessions with experienced skratch djs. They'll skratch the questions, and you skratch the answers. Here, you can try to copy them or just freestyle. Try out the skratches you've learned and put them together in your own way. It's that easy!

When you get better, you can post your own call and response "sessions" for the training dojo so that others can skratch along with you too!

This
next scratch is gonna take you to the next
level.
This is called a one click flare.
There's a bunch of other flares, but we'll
get into that later.
Let's do a really basic flare and what it
is.
[MUSIC]
So the secret to this is leaving
the fader open, and closing it, and
leaving it open again.
So you, what you're doing is cutting the
sound in half.
You know, let's say this is a sound like
and then you cut the sound in half.
It's gonna make two sounds.
Like this.
[MUSIC]
So let's do that slow motion.
So remember the faders open.
You let the sound come in and you cut it
in half by going, chick, chick.
Right?
So cut it in half.
[SOUND] There I just cut the sound in
half, did you see it?
[MUSIC]
And backwards, same thing in reverse.
So forward and you let the sound play,
then cut it half.
[MUSIC]
And the fader's still open.
So once again, in reverse, fader open, cut
it in half, and it comes back.
Do it again and then.
From the beginning, once again, fader open
and end open, that's the secret.
Here goes.
[MUSIC]
Cut it in half,
making two sounds outta one sound by just
going,
by flicking it on and off real quick.
Just real quick.
[MUSIC]
And that is a one click flare.
Really tricky to do, but when you get it,
you'll have a good time.
[MUSIC]
Vocals clear.
