In this section, you can have call and response sessions with experienced skratch djs. They'll skratch the questions, and you skratch the answers. Here, you can try to copy them or just freestyle. Try out the skratches you've learned and put them together in your own way. It's that easy!

When you get better, you can post your own call and response "sessions" for the training dojo so that others can skratch along with you too!

This is OG flare.
This was the original flare.
DJ Flare invented it.
He was trying to emulate I think, Cash
Money did.
On a song called Ugly People be Quiet by
Cash Money.
And it was this thing it was it was.
[SOUND]
You know how to do it,
so he made up this kind of weird way of
doing it.
We all thought it was transforming, but
flare for
some reason thought it was something else.
And this is what it is.
It's two clicks.
It's kind of like the one quick flair, but
on the, it's the same as the forward part.
But you stop right at the end and you do a
reverse stroke.
You know, remember the chirp?
[SOUND] You're just doing the backwards
part of it as the last note.
[SOUND] So the first part is.
[SOUND] And the and the last part is.
[SOUND] Get that?
It's kind of weird huh?
[SOUND] So this is like you start open but
you end closed.
[SOUND] See that on the two notes?
And on that last one you open the fader.
[SOUND] The reverse strip.
[SOUND]
See how it's closed in here?
Watch open right here.
[SOUND] It's closed.
Okay.
But you pull back and it's a new first
chirp.
[SOUND] All right?
So, it's still three notes.
[SOUND]
That's the original flare.
[MUSIC]
So yeah, once more.
One more time slow.
So you start with the fader open, and then
you do the flare.
Turn it off.
[SOUND] That second click.
It's like and unfinished click, but it, it
resolves right here.
[SOUND]
That's the OG flare so, practice that slow
and you definitely get that after a while.
[MUSIC]
The movement is.
[MUSIC]
On the record,
the thumb being on the record.
[MUSIC]
That's the OG Flare right there.
