In this section, you can have call and response sessions with experienced skratch djs. They'll skratch the questions, and you skratch the answers. Here, you can try to copy them or just freestyle. Try out the skratches you've learned and put them together in your own way. It's that easy!

When you get better, you can post your own call and response "sessions" for the training dojo so that others can skratch along with you too!

[MUSIC]
All right
we're gonna do this thing that's called
the Mothra scratch, and it's I did it
a couple of times in the master classes,
but it kinda got lost in the shuffle.
We've got so many master classes now, and
I'm gonna this once and for all and
put it up in the level four scratches.
All right?
So this is a combo which is a take off
the butterfly scratch which you look
online, I might do a tutorial on that too.
If you look online for toad oh, what's his
name?
Tiger Style butterfly scratch, it's kinda
like this.
[SOUND] Two of those, and then into a
tentacle.
[MUSIC]
Right?
[MUSIC]
That's it right there.
[MUSIC]
All right?
So what that is, is two of these.
[SOUND] Like a reverse flare.
[SOUND] All right.
It's really, it's really like the regular
flare.
[SOUND]
You know, the regular OG flare.
[SOUND] But just starting in reverse.
[SOUND] Like you're, you're continuing OG
flare but
you're starting on the reverse
[MUSIC]
[SOUND]
Right?
So, he does two of those.
[SOUND] And then he goes to a butterfly a
tentacle.
[SOUND]
Right?
Remember tentacle is we're gonna do two,
two forward.
Three forward tears with two clicks, and
then, three tears back.
[SOUND] All right?
So that's with.
[SOUND]
The butterfly scratches.
But we're gonna do something called the
Mothra scratch,
which is my take on the butterfly scratch.
I like to take scratches and kind of flip
them.
But we're gonna do that tutorial now.
Because it got lost in the shuffle
involved with all those
crazy master classes.
What I do when I do the that scratch is
instead of.
[SOUND]
Instead of doing that,
those two OG flares, I do a prism.
[SOUND]
Right?
[SOUND]
All right, so I do, we'll figure out
how we're gonna do it on the board because
I always add a chirp in the beginning.
[SOUND] All right, and then I go into my
prism.
[SOUND] And then I go into the tentacles.
So it's three scratches in one, right?
So let's start it off.
So first is a chirp, go like this, and
then the chirp looks like that, right?
So that's that right there.
That's the first move and then we go into
a prism.
[SOUND] One, two, three, four, five, six.
A prism is six notes.
So chirp into.
[SOUND] Into tentacles.
I mean, I'm sorry, it's prism.
I confuse all these scratches.
Okay, so that's two forward.
[MUSIC]
One back.
[MUSIC]
Then one forward, yee.
[MUSIC]
Two back, all right?
[MUSIC]
So that's the prism.
You look on, look up prisms at the top,
and you see how that's starts.
This is a prism, you got the two clicks
here, all right?
So a chirp into a prism.
[SOUND]
All right?
So, one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight.
[SOUND]
All right?
So that's a pretty even number.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
eight.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
eight.
One, two, three, four, five, seven.
[MUSIC]
All right?
And then we're gonna add the tentacles,
which is which is this.
[SOUND]
All right so that's six notes.
So this is 8 plus 6 is what?
8 plus 6 is what, L-dog?
14.
8 plus 6 is what?
>> 13 and a half.
>> [LAUGH] 13 and a half.
Okay, 8 plus 6 is 14, all right?
So we're gonna have three notes here.
One, two, three.
And then back down, one, two, three, whoa.
Well, luckily, over here, I'm all, I'm not
doing any clicks on this three back, but
I'm doing two clicks here, all right?
And then it starts over.
So this is, one, two, three, four, five,
six, seven, eight, nine, ten, 11, 12, 13,
14, 14 notes.
So that's a bugged out number, because
it's gonna, it's gonna come up offbeat.
I mean, not really offbeat but it's gonna
be rotating around the beat with this 14.
[MUSIC]
All right.
So,
if you can even add an extra chirp here to
make it a even 16.
[MUSIC]
All right, so
if you want to make it 16 notes just add
that one extra chirp in the beginning.
And there goes your Mothra scratch right
there.
So, you know, you can flip it all kinds of
ways.
Like, I like to, I like to go in here and
pause and continue, and go,
speed up to slow, medium, and fast, and,
and extra slow, and then super fast.
You know, just kinda keep playing with it.
[MUSIC]
You know,
do a bunch of chirps in there and
whatever.
Do a bunch of prisms in there or bunch of
those whatever and mix it all up.
But there you have Mothra scratch, all
right?
So play with that and I kinda, everytime I
do it, all the DJ's are like, what,
what was that, what was that?
So, kinda a fun little toy to make
everyone ask you what it is, all right?
[SOUND]
