Jason Vieaux: Classical Guitar Ambassador

ArtistWorks instructor Jason Vieaux is one of only six people to ever win a Grammy Award for classical guitar. Since winning for “best classical instrumental solo” for his album Play earlier this year, he joins an elite group of renowned guitarists who include Andrés Segovia, David Russell, Sharon Isbin, John Williams and Julian Bream.
As you can imagaine, it’s been pretty busy for Jason lately. Aside from keeping up with Video Exchanges from his online students at ArtistWorks, he’s been involved with a number of interesting things which are worth mentioning here.
Jason Vieaux Discusses Classical Guitar Recordings

Jason Vieaux, fresh off his GRAMMY win, was in the ArtistWorks studio recently to record new Sor studies (among other things) for his online students. You can see a list of the new classical guitar lessons below, but while he was here we also took some time to discuss recordings from some of the 20th century's greatest classical guitarists. We showed Jason some records which we like to listen to in the office and recorded his natural reaction. You can clearly see how much this music means to Jason, and how influential many of these classical guitar recordings remain to this day.

Congratulations to Jason Vieaux on winning a 2015 GRAMMY! We are very proud to announce our classical guitar instructor has just won a GRAMMY for Best Classical Instrumental Solo category for his album Play. This a great recognition for the outstanding guitar arrangments on the album and marks Jason's first GRAMMY. Historically there has only been 5 other classical guitarists to win this prestigious award, and Jason now joins an elite group which include Andrés Segovia, Laurindo Almeida, Julian Bream, David Russell, and Sharon Isbin. We are thrilled to have seven ArtistWorks artists nominated for GRAMMYs this year! This is definitely a record for the most nominated in a single year, although many have won in the past.
