Guess what? We just discovered a few lessons that must have gotten lost in the shuffle somewhere... because they never got uploaded before today. Not sure how that happened, but the good news is we found them and they're now available! First up, we got another one to add to the Level Three section - it's a recap of the all the Lazer lessons: Lazer Family (be sure to study the Slow Mo too). Next we got TWO new lesssons to add to the Skratch Theory area: Baiting the Listener and Spacing Out Skratches. Jump on it!
A few months ago I heard author/professor Mark Katz interviewed on Billy Jam's "Put the Needle On The Record" Radio show. I'd heard about Groove Music and had been meaning to read it, but it wasn't until after hearing Mark speak with Billy Jam (Hip Hop Slam) that I immediately ordered the book and proceeded to devour every page. I like to read and am a Hip Hop DJ myself, so there was no excuse not to read this.
The first Ableton Tutorial has arrived! Check it out under Digital Applications in the Lessons Menu, or just click on the image below to jump on it! This video starts off with teaching you how to "warp" a track. Ableton's Warping functionality lets you easily timestretch tracks for beatmatching, mash-ups, and sampling. Stay tuned for more Ableton Tutorials with SquareWeezy coming soon!
Coming soon to QSU... SquareWeezy of the Bangerz Crew takes you through the ins and outs of Ableton. There are a lot of Ableton tutorials out there already, but we wanted to put together a series that's easy to understand from a DJ perspective. Anyone who's seen SquareWeezy LIVE knows he's an expert, and he breaks it down thoroughly in simple language. Leave us a comment with anything you'd like to see him explain in upcoming videos, and stay tuned for the first QSU Ableton tutorial coming soon!
Supreme respect to DJ Revolution for these interviews, he really goes in depth from a DJ's point of view and asks questions that DJ nerds like us want to know about. This time he sits down with one of the lesser known Beat Junkies, Mr. Choc, to talk about his early days learning how to mix, getting on the radio, and a whole lot more. This is a really insightful interview that goes into the history of the Los Angeles mixshows and DJs, including the real story behind what happened to the Fantastik 4our/Friday Night Flavas show in 2006. Watch and learn and be sure check out all of Rev's interviews on The Cut!
Yogafrog will be hosting another Skratchcon on Tuesday, March 12 at 5:00 pm PST (find your time zone here).

"DIY: Your Own DJ Biz from Skratch"
This is something Yogafrog knows a thing or two about so be sure to tune in LIVE and post your questions for him. We will be broadcasting the event live from the Thud Rumble YouTube channel, specifically at this link HERE... see you there!
Qbert was just in New York for the 15th Anniversary of the WNYU's Halftime Radio Show. Hosted by DJ Eclipse and DJ Riz (two of the dopest DJs ever in my opinion), the Halftime Radio Show has been showcasing real emcees, talented DJs, and all around good Hip Hop since 1998. There's a nice collection of older shows on the Dirty Waters Blog, which I highly recommend for anyone not familiar with the great underground Hip Hop radio programs of our time (Stretch and Bobbito, Halftime Radio, CM Famalam, Future Flavors, etc...).
Congrats to the winner of the Transformer Battle, DJ Catch - you got the triple prize pack coming your way!
