A Trip to the Sporting Goods Store

One of the inspirations for the title of my new album, "I Can Destroy," is the giant atom smasher at CERN. For the photos for the album's CD booklet, I wanted to smash my guitar into a big model of an atom. I didn't get this idea until the night before the photo session. So I made a very hurried trip to my local sporting goods store, to buy one soccer ball, three tennis balls, and three hula hoops. Then I stopped at the hardware store and got some silver and black spraypaint, some string, some Velcro, and some tape. With the help of Neil Zlozower, the photographer, I was able to assemble a very satisfying "atom." The strings, Velcro, and the lines in the soccer ball were easy to remove in Photoshop. And my concept had become reality.

Hey,

Hoping u all have had a nice start of the new year! Once again a warm welcome to all the new students. My year started off nicely with 3 songs placed on the new SHINee album in Japan (Wishful Thinking, Sweet Surprise & Sing your Song) which did Nr 1 over there on the weekly chart. On the first two songs I also play quite a lot of guitar including jazzy solos :)

Currently I'm up in Aspen, Colorado doing a "GUITAR SUMMIT-Trio Concert " together with my friends Kruno Spisic and Ted Gottsegen. We'll be performing 2 shows tonight and tomorrow night. This is one of a few selected performances I will do this year, will be a lot of fun!

So check it out if u're nearby, it will be a mix of standards, django-songs and some of my own pop compositions.

Here's a quick interview the Aspen Times did with me over the phone the other day:

30 Day Guitar Challenge from Keith Wyatt: "Internal Metronome"

Thu, 01/21/2016 - 3:37pm
Written by ArtistWorks

“It’s not an obvious technique but it’s something that pays off big time in terms of musicianship and your overall feel for the music. It just makes music more fun to play.” - Keith Wyatt

We sent this out in an email but in case you missed it, here’s a great practice tip from Keith Wyatt about improving your internal metronome. The idea is to work on this exercise for 30 days and by the end of it you should see some results. If you’re one of Keith’s students, be sure to send him a video showing him how it’s working for you.

With a heavy heart, we say goodbye Jeannie
