Hey guys!

I just did a general outline for some details on how and what you should practice and for how long. I hope you find these helpful! This is just a guide. Through the video exchanges we can fine tune this just for you!

Drill Pillow

My three-piece band and I had a great first show in Uppsala, Sweden. Here is a photo of us about to take our bow at the end of the show. Also, check out my newest piece of gear... the Pillow. After playing my guitar with my Makita cordless drill, where can I put it? I need to quickly start playing guitar with my normal pick again, so I need to get rid of the drill quickly. The pillow allows me to just drop the drill on the ground, where it cushions the fall. This particular pillow belongs to the venue, so I couldn't take it with me for the upcoming shows. I guess I'll need to go pillow shopping.

More wild tour stories, as they happen...

Paul

P.S. I guess I could get rid of the drill Yngwie-style. But there are risks.

Martin Live on BBC Radio 4 'Loose Ends'

I'm currently on a Solo UK Tour celebrating my 60th birthday. I started the tour by being a guest on BBC Radio 4 'Loose Ends with Clive Anderson'

My fellow guests were the Hollywood actor and director Ron Howard and the celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

I've been a guest on the show many times over the years, but this was a particularly enjoyable show to do.

We all had a good chat on air with Clive, who was in fine form, and I played a solo version of 'I Won't Last A Day Without You'

If you missed the show you can go to this link and hear my solo guitar offering. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04c0vkp

I'm not sure if these BBC links work outside the UK, but if it doesn't work, you can try the BBC iPlayer catchup site.

Rocking On Tour

Tonight in Madrid, I found myself playing better than I usually do. There are gigs where the guitar can fight back. Not tonight. The guitar let me go where ever I wanted to. The muscles in my hands, and the musical intention in my ears and heart worked perfectly together. My memory may be subjective, and I'm sure some YouTube bootlegs may expose a clam or two. But overall... it was a rocking show!

My band and I have reached the part of the tour where we know the music has become an instinct, and we just go onstage and ROCK.

I hope some of you can make it to upcoming shows. (and VIP lessons. Paris VIPs are sold out, and there are only a couple left for Manchester and Zoetermeer, but there are plenty of VIP tickets left in other cities.)

Thank you,

Paul

Martin Taylor & Ulf Wakenius have teamed up for their latest touring project called 'Legacy' which draws on their years of working with jazz legends Stephane Grappelli and Oscar Peterson.

Martin toured with Stephane Grappelli for 11 years from 1979 to 1990, and Ulf toured with Oscar Peterson during the last ten years of the Canadian piano stars life.

There are already plans for Martin & Ulf to tour next year in Europe, Asia, and Canada, and an album has already been recorded and will be released in 2017.

Their recent 'Legacy' promotional video had 100,000 views in just a few days, so they're both very excited about taking this amazing guitar duo on the road.

Bill Wyman's 80th Birthday Concert

Martin was a guest artist on Bill Wyman's 80th Birthday Concert at the O2 Arena in London this month.

Martin was a founder member of the ex-Rolling Stone bass player's band 'Bill Wyman's Rhythm King's' so was delighted to part of the celebrations.

Guest artists that evening were all old friend's of Bill's including Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler, Mick Hucknall, Robert Plant, Bob Geldorf, and Imelda May.

Bill made a special request for Martin to play a featured solo set during the packed out show at London's O2 Arena, and everyone got together at the end of the show for a closing jam session.

A very special evening in honor of a true icon of Rock n' Roll.
