For the first time ever in the history of ArtistWorks, each of our 6 guitar teachers have collaborated via Video Exchange™ for a blues guitar jam. That's 6 different players in 3 different countries across 2 continents all jamming on the same blues backing track: Martin Taylor (fingerstyle guitar lessons), Andreas Oberg (jazz guitar lessons), Andy Hall (Dobro lessons), Jason Vieaux (classical guitar lessons), Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitar lessons), and Paul Gilbert (rock guitar lessons).
Martin had a chance to sit with guitar legend Scotty Moore when he was in Nashville for a Chet Atkins festival a few years ago. Martin had met Moore in 2004 while recording "A Tribute to the King" DVD, which was Moore's tribute to Elvis that featured an all-start lineup of musicians playing Elvis tunes. Scotty Moore played guitar for Elvis Presley during the first part of his career, including on some Elvis's most famous recordings ("Hound Dog", "Jailhouse Rock", and "Heartbreak Hotel" among others).
Moore is credited as being a pioneer of rock 'n' roll lead guitar playing. Born in 1931, Moore admits he doesn't play much these days due to his age, so it's fascinating to hear him talk about his prolific life and career. Martin talks with Moore about how he first got into music, when he first started learning guitar, also his first encounter with Elvis Presley and his first impressions of "the King".
