Why Playing Posture Matters for Flatpicking

Before getting too far into the myriad techniques and challenges of flatpicking, it is essential to first establish a relaxed and stable posture.
Sitting upright on a chair or stool, take a few deep breaths into your lower abdomen, allowing your core to relax. Allow this relaxation to permeate outward, letting go of any tension in your arms, neck, and face - before you to pick up the guitar. This way you'll be able to create a flow of music with a relaxed core.
New Fiddle Lessons on Double Stops

Tony Trischka Talks Banjo with Noam Pikelny

Tony got together with Noam Pikelny recently to talk banjo and discuss Noam's new (and debut) solo banjo album called "Universal Favorite." In Part 1 Noam kicks it off by performing "Waveland" which Tony has written tablature for (available in "Additional Study Materials" section). ArtistWorks Live: Talking Mandolin with Mike Marshall

In this month’s episode of ArtistWorks Live we sit down with the mandolin man himself, Mr. Mike Marshall. He joined us from his home in Germany where he'd just gotten home from playing a show at a local cafe with the great Caterina Lichtenberg. He was still in the mood to play music, and this one features a lot of great tunes! Also if you’ve never heard a mandocello, you’re in for a treat. As always, we had a lot of fun and there were some great questions coming in from those of you who were tuned in live.
