Greetings, we come bearing Bluegrass! This is footage that we captured at the ArtistWorks booth at Rockygrass 2013. Missy came over to the booth for a meet and greet session and ended up getting a great jam circle going. Some of the other notables in the jam are Missy's husband Ben, plus Jeff Scoggins and his son Tristan Scoggins of the band Colorado. There are 14 bluegrass jams altogether in the new section "Rockygrass 2013", so find it all in +Music section or just click on the picture to jump to the first jam!
Whew! It's been a whirlwind these last couple of months! Here's some photos of Rocky Grass (near Denver CO)- Ran into some fellow School of Bass'er's out there.
From there I went to NashCamp in Tennessee where I had nearly an entire class of students who are here online with us at the Academy of Bluegrass. It was great to hang out and catch up.
Playing in Nashville this Saturday night, Sept 14th at the Station Inn to celebrate the release of my new CD, "New Frontier" on Compass Records.
If you're near- do come out and say hi!
Here's something that doesn't get brought up enough in bass lessons: body energy. In this video from her online bass lessons, Missy Raines goes over the importance of using your body while playing double bass. This is more of a beginning bass lesson - body energy is something that you should be paying attention to once you get comfortable with holding the bass and learning the fingerboard. This is just a sample from Missy's online curriculum of bass lessons, so be sure to check out more at the link.
I've been traveling and gigging a lot this summer and meeting lots of School of Bass students out there on the road. It's always wonderful to be able to meet in person and I love it when you come up and say howdy!
Here's a photo of me and fellow School of Bass student, Mary Warren, 'Horsedancer' at my gig at the Berkeley Cafe in Raleigh NC.
