D-StylesThe Serato Icon Series continues with another one who needs no introduction...

"When I joined the Beat Junkies and the Skratch Piklz it was great. Now instead of being a sort of bedroom DJ, I had an outlet... It was just like a whole new world, you know, opening up. It's like everything that was going on in my head musically, I was able to try live. You know, it was like a dream come true." - D-Styles

Mix Master Mike

This man needs no introduction! Mike is featured in the Serato Icon Series, which is definately worth checking out. Click on the picture to read the interview and watch the full performance video.

"I was a huge Beastie Boy fan. They were like the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, the Led Zeppelin of hip hop. I wanted to be a part of that.

Late night I used to leave these messages on his answering machine, "yo Adam check this out man, this is called the Reverse Octopus Scratch", put the phone down next to the speaker and cut it up. Then you know, following week "yo Adam what's up? This is Mix Master Mike, uhh I got this tweak scratch I wanna show you, check it out". Persistence. That's how it all started." - Mix Master Mike

Prime example of how mainstream Hip Hop changed as a result of the lawyers cracking down on sampling. Just imagine if they never wrote those laws...

Featuring Cold Cut, Prince Paul, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Ice T, and a whole lot more.
