Thud Rumble has released another in their series of Warflex Speed Booster Apps, this time featuring 10 beats from the highly acclaimed Scratch Nerds 2 mixtape from DJ Craze and DJ Klever. This is a really great tool for long practice sessions as well as speed training. Just hit the Speed Booster button and the beat will increase 1% every 20 seconds. It's like being in the Speed Booster at QSU, just without the Toadman. Get the App at the links below:
Also available: Warflex Gold - featuring beats from Gold Voltron
Hold up, reverse! We forgot to tell you about a new lesson in the Level 2 area, it's a breakdown of the "Reverse Clover Tear 3-Click Flare", aka the "3-Click Clover Tear Reverse". If anyone's got a better name for this one feel free to put it in the comments! This is a pretty crazy combo, and Qbert recommends first learning Crescent Flares before attempting this one.
Also, check out this new video recorded for Ortofon's YouTube channel where Q demonstrates some different drumming styles. Very intricate patterns on display! If you're inspired to work on your own drumming, head over to Level 5 here which is all about drum skratching.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner! Please join us in congratulating the new 2013 QSU Valedictorian: it's Mr Cerdan from Seattle!!! This guy has been quietly killing it on QSU for some time now… if you'll recall he was also the winner of both the Stab and the Boomerang Battles we had here this year. He's on a roll and I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him.
He now joins the ranks of the elite group of QSU Valedictorians:
Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Mr Cerdan coming soon! In the meantime, check him out on YouTube below as his alter ego DJ Boski.
Thanks for everyone who submitted a video for the 2013 QSU Valedictorian Battle! I'm really excited to check out all the entries myself, and I'm sure everyone is excited to find out who's gonna be the new Valedictorian.
If you watch Q's new Welcome video, he has picked a winner. But, he wants all the students to try to figure out who it is first. So, check out all the entries and leave some comments - Q wants to see know Who you think should win and Why.
Stay tuned... the winner will be announced in a week.
Also - check out Vekked's latest blog on Turntablist World, it's a nice list of Top 10 Scratch Routines that he's compiled with YouTube clips. Some interesting discussions going on over there in the forums, it's great to see all the different turntablists chiming in!
