jazz saxophone exercises

Good news: we've compiled all the weekly tip lessons that Eric has been teaching in his welcome videos into new sections in the Learning Channel!

There are 2 new sections to check out: "Exercise of the Week Archive" and "Lick of the Week Archive" where you can find all the previous lessons by title with their accompanying PDFs and backing tracks. You can also submit videos to Eric from there, so anyone working on any of these licks or exercises can now submit their versions for feedback from right from the page.

We'll continue to add to these sections as Eric posts new lessons and these will also serve as a searchable archive. The video message archive will still remain as is and contain all the same videos but only listed by date. Have fun practicing!

how to practice

"What we work on to practice is less important than how we work on them." - Eric Marienthal

They say practice makes perfect, but what often gets overlooked is how to practice effectively so you can see results. Not only is it important that you practice on a consistent basis, but you should make sure you know the best way to achieve your playing goals. Not only that, you need to know the difference between practicing and playing - this is vital for your progress.

ArtistWorks teacher Eric Marienthal has a 3-part lesson series going over how to put together a good practice routine for his jazz sax students. This not only works for playing saxophone however, there's some great ideas in here that can benefit any musician.

We are excited to tell you about some new content we've just released from a few of our artists. First up, we we were lucky to film Keith Wyatt playing guitar with the Blasters last month in downtown Napa, CA. The band delivered a power packed set which Keith's students can now find in the Music+ area, and we've also uploaded a new lesson on the classic Blasters song, "Dark Night" which can be found in the "Beyond Classic Blues" section.
