Rock Face of The Month

Written by PaulGilbert

Clarke Robinson always plays great, and this month his delivers the goods with a rock face of obvious sincerity.

Bending strings is the usual method for achieving rock faces, but It was the B7/F# chord from Elton John's "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" that made it happen this time. Never underestimate the power of a pop piano chord banged out convincingly on a guitar.

Great job, Clarke!

Thank you,

Paul

Hey all,

Just finished a soundcheck in Salt Lake City together with Frank Vignola, Julian Lage, Nicki Parrott and a few other young talents and the Capitol Theatre. Doing one of my few selected live performaces this year together with Frank and his band. Looking forward to tonight's performance, it's gonna be alot of fun guitar music so stop by if u're anywhere nearby...such a beautiful venue!

Off to Japan tomorrow, gonna do writing sessions, meetings and attend a concert with SHINee in Tokyo Dome. This venue takes approx 55 000 people so it will be an amazing experience to hear my songs being played in front of so many people. I have written 9 songs for SHINee so far and 3 of them have been singles in Japan.

Regards Andreas

I've been having fun with this "mystery pedal" from Way Huge. Jeorge Tripps, the designer, seems reluctant to tell me what it will be called, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying the sparsely labeled box and the thwunky tone. Hopefully he'll unveil the production model soon.

Thank you,

Paul

"Making the soundtrack of other peoples lives" has always been one of the goals of my songwriting. The other day at Tokyo Dome Arena, I felt that happening...SHINee performed 6 of my songs in front of 55 000 people, singing and dancing along to the music. The songs were: Breaking News, Wishful Thinking, Sweet Surprise, LookBook, Downtown Baby & Sing your song. This was a truly amazing experience that I won't forget and I feel very thankful for moments like this. Thx SHINee, SM Japan and SoundGraphics for an unforgetable evening!
