If you're tired of your same 3 holiday records:

Darol Anger’s 3rd Annual Keepin'-It-In-The-Fam Holiday Show with Emy Phelps, Tristan Clarridge, Ethan Jodziewicz, Simon Chrisman and Jacob Ransom at the Alberta Rose Theatre:

Acoustic Music legend Darol Anger joined rising singer-songwriter Emy Phelps in organizing some of the country's best young string musicians in a multigenerational musical experience focusing on the spirit of Midwinter and the turning of the year.

Anger’s experience with holiday shows from Windham Hill through Newgrange to Yulegrass, his quirky humor, and his genius for organizing exciting bands was in full swing. Multi-award-winning fiddler & Crooked Still cellist Tristan Clarridge, the phenomenal bassist (and Edgar Meyer protege) Ethan Jodziewicz, and hammer dulcimer wizard Simon Chrisman joined Anger and Phelps in December 2015’s concert at the Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland, Oregon for a magical concert filled with spiritual uplift and musical virtuosity.... and some mighty fine fiddling from Tristan and Ethan, as well as Darol.

preparing for vocal recording

The most important element of a recording is all too frequently given the least amount of time for preparation and recording. Yes, sadly, it’s the vocals.

Lack of preparation along with little understanding of the art of vocal recording can make it difficult or impossible to achieve a high quality captivating studio vocal within budget. Whether you’re recording a cover song or an original, acoustic or band arrangement, here are several effective steps you can take to improve your vocal recordings.

Song Choice: Sing songs with messages you believe in and which showcase the best qualities of your voice. Unless you’re purposely trying to be an impersonator of another artist such as a tribute band, your song choices should be ones that present who you are as an artist.
