feeling comfortable when performing

Howdy folks. This blog entry is actually an answer to a question that I received in the forums. It relates to a home page video I posted a while back about how to bring that relaxed feeling of playing at home to the stage. Hopefully there is some helpful info here for you.

Next in our series of Dobro lessons we learn all about using Dobro picks. In this sample video lesson from the Online Dobro School, Andy Hall also goes over some different wood choices for resonator guitars. But first let's talk about how to wear those dobro picks!

Mike Marshall dropped by the ArtistWorks studio recently while Andy Hall was recording some more Dobro lessons. They were having a ball together discussing music and playing some tunes, and we wanted to let you all in on the fun.  Because they're not quite lessons in the sense that they're teaching you how to play the tunes, we put them in the +Music section. There's also a nice 3 part interview they did together which you can find in Special Guests (or just click here).  So click on the +Music tab up top and then on Performances & More to find the new stuff with Andy Hall!

AW: How long have you been playing Dobro?

Andy:  I started playing Dobro in 1994. I started as a guitar player and actually got tendinitis from practicing guitar, and so when I was about 19 years old I had to switch to Dobro. So it's almost been 20 years now.

AW: How long have you been teaching people how to play Dobro?

Andy: You know, I did my first instructional video probably a year after I got my first Dobro, which  shows there was sort of a lack of instructional material out there for Dobro players.  So I've been teaching almost since I started playing.
