Missy Raines Delivers Keynote Address at IBMA's World of Bluegrass
Missy Raines, no stranger to the IBMA, delivered the keynote address for IBMA's World of Bluegrass Conference on Monday in Nashville. In her speech she stressed the need for unity in bluegrass, stating “this is the ideal time to come together, renew our commitment to this vital trade organization, and move forward.”
We reached out to Missy who had this to say:
"The IBMA World of Bluegrass is making a move to a new location in Raleigh NC in 2013. Through the Keynote Address, Chris Jones and I wanted to take the opportunity to invite the community of bluegrass to come together, put aside debates and arguments about defining bluegrass, embrace a 'big tent' mentality, and move forward. Through video and audio clips with some of bluegrass's most revered first and second generation innovators like Sonny Osborne, Mac Wiseman, Eddie Adcock and Doyle Lawson, we strove to communicate that those early pioneers did not even think in terms of genre and "the rules" when they made decisions about their music. They were creating art and trying to survive. - Missy Raines
