Hello and hoping all the AW staff and friends and neighbors are ok!
It must have been quite something to go through.... I have felt a couple, but never at that magnitude. God bless all!
I am off to Japan for two weeks with fellow professor Nathan East and the rest of our band Fourplay, so I wanted to get this message up before I go...
Here is the Lick Of The Week number 7:

¡Hola! ¡Y Bienvenidos Guitaristas de Jazz!
I Hope you are all doing great! This weeks greeting finds me in another language altogether (as you can see in my salutation) - So I will let the video be its own explanation.
Also - here is the Lick of the Week in octaves:

¡Hola! ¡Y Bienvenidos Guitaristas de Jazz! (Hello and Welcome Jazz Guitarists!)
I am doing my correspondence this week from my vacation in Spain. As some of you might know, My wife - vocalist, song-writer and guitarist herself - Carmen Cuesta is from Spain, and we spend time here each summer when I have a break in my touring and production schedule.
So this week I am off EXCEPT for The School of Jazz Guitar.
What you will notice is that the look and sound of this weeks greeting and Lick of the Week and VE's will be different. I am doing them on my iPad, and on a Spanish Guitar - of course!
As always I look forward to hearing from all of you and see ya 'round campus!
Here's the transcription of The Lick Of The Week:

Hey Fellow Guitarists of Jazz!
So I had a few days at home but spent most of it recuperating from a killer cold...
I got a few VE's in and you might notice my voice is a little tweaked;-)
So tomorrow I hit the road again back with FOURPLAY! After 6 months off as a band we are joining forces again and heading into a nice string of gigs throughout The U.S.A.

Hey Jazz Guitarists!
Hope you are all doing well. I just finished a week in japan with my Silhouette Quartette with Janek Gwizdala, Matt King and the great Peter Erskine on drums. We had a wonderful time playing at The Blue Note in Nagoya and in Tokyo at The Cotton Club. The band, crew and staff at both places were amazing - and let's not forget the Japanese fans. Wonderful to sit in with harvey Mason's Chameleon Band at The Blue Note in Tokyo too!
Here is a shot of the band on stage

I will be home for only a few short days before I set out to do a bunch of dates in June with Fourplay. We have been off for six months so I am eager to play with Bob James, Nathan East and Harvey Mason again! We will be trying out new music for our new 25th Anniversery CD coming up too... so if you check my web site and live near one of the gigs - please come down!

Hey Gang!
I just flew from JFK to Tokyo and connected to Osaka.... whew! Lots of frequent flyer miles on that trip!
I am doing a few shows with Keiko Matsui's band along with my good buddy Kirk Whalum, and then a week with my own "Silhouette Quartette" in Nagoya and Tokyo next week.
I will try and post some pix as we go and maybe even a video or two...
I will also be trying out doing some VE's with my iPad and iRig... wish me luck;-)
In the mean time keep on hitting those lessons and keep in touch.
Our campus is the whole world - and I'll see ya 'round it!
Chuck
