We pick up when we last left off, which is my third secret for teaching anyone to play the piano: Bytes. Click here to read part 1!In computers, bytes are among the smallest bits of memory making up every kind of digital content. Several folks asked to hear the same piece on both the 7ft. Estonia and the 7ft. Schimmel, rather than play different pieces on each, so that's what I do in this follow-up episode. Let me know in the forums if this helps you better compare the distinct characteristics of each piano. I'd love to hear which one you like better!

When it comes to pianos, is a bigger piano always better? In this episode of "Piano Tastings", we compare a 6'10" Steinway B, built around 2005, to a petite 5'1" refurbished Steinway S, built around 1938. Let me know in the forum or the shoutouts which piano you like better!

I believe that anybody can learn to play the piano. Let me tell you why. Back in 2009, I created a series of piano lessons for YouTube called “Clair de lune From Scratch.” In the introduction, I stated that anyone – absolutely anyone – could learn to play this incredibly difficult piano masterpiece by Claude Debussy, even if they never had any music lessons or prior piano playing experience.Almost immediately, teachers at a prominent piano forum attacked this claim.

While the holidays are supposed to be a joyous and festive time, for many folks who have lost loved ones it can be the most painful time of the year. This is a small musical message for them, that out of the greatest tragedies can come the greatest hopes. Merry Christmas and God bless you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
