Martin in Thailand

Martin will be playing a solo concert at the Bangkok Guitar Extravaganza on February 25th, and will also be holding a Masterclass while he is there. For full details go to http://www.bangkokguitarfiesta.com Martin would like to let his students know that he will still be working actively on the MTGA site while he's in Thailand and can still be contacted through Forums, Guestbook, Shout Outs and Chat. He will also be posting footage during his stay in Bangkok and hopes to include an interview with other guitarists taking part in the event.

Martin heads back to the UK

It's been a very enjoyable couple of weeks playing on the West Coast, and it was great meeting so many MTGA students at the gigs and at NAMM. I'm now sitting in the VIP lounge in Los Angeles Airport reviewing the video submissions you've sent me and look forward to filming responses when I get back in my studio in a couple of days time. I thought you'd like to see this photo of me working away in the airport lounge - there's no peace for the wicked!

Martin's back home!

Hello Everyone! Liz and I have arrived home safely from our wonderful, and much needed vacation in Hawaii. Traveling conditions were extremely difficult due to the heavy snowfall across North West Europe, but miraculously, we managed to somehow get to LA in time to catch the ship, and then Heathrow Airport reopened in time for us to fly back in time to spend Christmas Day at our home in Scotland.

Spirit of Django Orchestral Suite

The world premier of Martin's "Spirit of Django Orchestral Suite" took place on November 19th at the Floral Pavilion Theatre, New Brighton, England. The piece was commissioned by the Guitar Festival of Great Britain to commemorate the festival's 20 anniversary and celebrate 100 years since the birth of Django Reinhardt. Based on themes written by Martin Taylor and orchestrated by Guy Barker the 50 minute long piece featured Martin as guitar soloist, his group Martin Taylor's Spirit of Django, the Guy Barker Big Band, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
