Mandolin Great U. Shrinivas has passed on

mandolin u shrinivas

My dear friend Shrinivas has died today at the age of 45. He had undergone a liver transplant and complications ocurred.

What a loss to our mandolin community. He was one of the most incredibly talented and yet humble musicians/people I have ever encountered.

Our musical world will not be the same without what he would have continued to give us. He was too young.

Shrinivas and I met first in 1990 at the Rudelstadt World Music Festival in Germany. It was a week putting together a show with 10 mandoinists from all over the world. After that, I would go to see him perform with John McLaughlin's Shakti group whenever we were in the same town and each time we spoke about doing a project together. Sadly that had not happened yet. Rest in Peace our Dear Mandolin Brother

Music and Nature

LIVE CHAT with MIKE MARSHALL Sunday July 7th at 7PM EST (4pm out West!)

Come join in on a little Chat this coming Sunday.

After the BBQ has settled and the hands are all warmed up from that long weekend of picking, perhaps you might have a few questions that you would like to toss at Mike. We'll yuck it up and just generally check in and see what's on your minds.

Anyone having trouble navigating the site? Or getting what you need? This might be a nice way to get answers to your questions or to even just feel a little more connected with this wonderful bunch of mando pickers.

Come join in!

School of Mandolin Chat This Saturday

Let's all join up at 11AM West Coast time this Saturday May 11th for a little chat time. (2PM East Coast time)

Will be nice to check in with everyone and answer any of your pressing mando questions you all may have.

See you THEN!!

Savannah Music Festival

Heading to Savannah this weekend to direct the second American Music Seminar. 15 of the greatest young string musicians will all be together for a week of playing each other's music and being visited by Darol Anger, David Grisman, Jerry Douglas, Julian Lage Bruce Molsky and others. Big show Saturday night April 6th! MM

Baby here!

Our little baby girl Pauline Lichtenberg-Marshall was born yesterday at 5:21PM in Wuppertal, Germany.

Mom and baby are doing great. Dad of course is a wreck. Please forgive any late

repsonses over the next few day. Things should normalize very soon I am sure.

Hugs, MM

Thanks!!

I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving Celebration.

We are still over here in Germany so we will attempt to do something to show

the locals what it's all about.

We all have a lot to be thankful for I sure. Just don't eat all the sweet potatoes ok?
