Thanks to Lev Zhurbin for this cool idea for keeping your right hand from sliding up the bow in this hot, hot weather. All you need is a rubber band.
AND... I've instituted aFiddle School Facebook Page for that info and posts which don't have to be private, and to introduce other fiddlers to this school.

On the weekend of July 11, 2021, I learned that one of my greatest musical heroes, Byron Berline, had passed on.
Here's an appreciation from my good friend and great fiddler Matt Glaser:
I first heard Byron Berline in 1972. I was 16 years old, and had been playing the fiddle for 3 years. I worked a part-time job at the Katonah Public Library, re-stacking bookshelves, and doing a bit of incompetent gardening.

I'll be posting a special lesson on backing up the great Chick Corea standard "Spain" pretty soon.
Here's the Youtube video of my Mr Sun bandmate Grant Gordy and me playing that piece, complete with introduction. I'm playing a carbon-fiber octave violin made in Spain!
I'm rigging up my overhead camera for the left hand, so we'll have some more informative lessons coming out of the old home studio soon.

Bronwyn is offcially available NOW this month as your Guest Fiddle Professor; feel free to submit a video about anything regarding irish fiddle or Bluegrass, or swing... Bronwyn is also a master of Bluegrass double-stops, and a very nice person as well.
Also see her Guest Lesson on my Student page, and right here on the home page! Here she is ripping on a solo with her great band, Mile 12. Check out her new solo recording. And click on the heading of this blog for the rest of the info!

Greetings, Fiddlers! I’m arranging another treat for everyone this March: I’m going to have a Special Guest Fiddle Professor help teach y'all this month, somebody (as always) whose name you know and whose fiddling we love.
I’ve managed to convince incandescent fiddle star Bronwyn Keith-Hynes to participate in this Special Expanded Faculty Month as we all continue to hang at home.

It’s unmistakable, the sound of a great fiddler. So many wonderful musicians play the fiddle, all contributing their unique and precious voices to the great chorus… And then there’s that maybe three percent, the cream. What makes us pay a little closer attention to that special few?
