I read a recent news story, where James Hetfield from Metallica claimed that his band was not "sparkly enough" to perform at the Superbowl half-time concert. If only I still had my outfit, hair, and guitar from 1987, I think I might having a fighting chance. Move over Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay... I've got silver sequin pants, a pink guitar, and hair that defies gravity! Those were good days.

I had the great pleasure and honor of jamming with Steve Vai, Richie Kotzen, Nuno Bettencourt, John 5, Tom Morello, Billy Sheehan, Derek Sherinian, and Mike Portnoy at the recent benefit concert for Tony MacAlpine. The Wiltern Theater in L.A. was packed, and everyone played inspired and intense guitar music. A highlight for me was playing Tony's song "Edge of Insanity" with Steve Vai.

Here is the CD artwork for my soon-to-be-released album, "I Can Destroy."
I discovered the artist (Barney Ibbotson) from doing some internet searching with the phrase "electric brontosaurus." Many images came up, but this was my favorite.

I just finished reading the new memoir from Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders. In the spaces between all the recklessness and drug-induced tragedy, the book reveals her love of rock music and great guitar playing. She credits the original Pretenders guitarist, James Honeyman-Scott with bringing her songs to life with melody, and ends the book with one of the saddest lines that I've ever read (about her memory of him, after his passing.)

I wasn't trying to look like the bass player from The Bangles in 1989, but sometimes things just happen that way.
I still have this guitar (although the bridge and pickups have changed once or twice.) I'll bet I could find a similar jacket. But the hair is going to take me a while.
Rock and Roll!
