After spending a some time with a stereo pedalboard set-up... I decided to go back to mono.
I've got enough complexity going on on the fingerboard, so I think a simpler pedalboard will serve me better. We'll see if this one survives the week!

My clinic tour in April is quickly approaching. I spent the day preparing my pedalboard for the trip, and also rehearsing some of the songs that I plan to play. For those who are interested in the pedals, here they are, in the order of the signal path.
- TC Electronic - PolyTune 2 Mini
- MXR - Phase 90 Script with LED
- Homebrew Electronics - UFO Fuzz
- TC Electronic - MojoMojo Overdrive
- TC Electronic - Alter Ego V2 Vintage Echo
- Lehle - Little Dual Splitter / Amp Switcher
- From here, one cable goes directly to the "dry" amp. The other goes to...
- A/DA - Flanger
- Neo Instruments - Mini Vent Leslie Simulator
Then to the "wet" amp.
Everything is powered by a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 Plus (sitting under the Alter Ego.)
The clinics are mostly in Italy, but there is one in England, and one in France. I hope to see you there!

An F# note just feels better with one arm in the air.
Thank you to all who came to the Mr. Big shows in South America! We play our last show here in Chile tomorrow, and then fly back to the U.S.A.

I had the pleasure and honor of jamming with Eric Johnson and Mike Stern at their show in L.A. I had a great talk with Eric after the show. We talked about Elvis, Chuck Berry, B.B. King, and Aaron Copeland. Mostly, my head is still spinning from Eric's amazing unaccompanied 10-minute guitar solo. It's wonderful to hear someone who has so successfully developed their own voice on the guitar.

My friend Mike Portnoy recently invited me to play The Who's "My Generation" with him at a Who Tribute show. I thought, "That song is simple enough, and I already know it." So I said "Yes!"
Then Mike told me that it's not the 3-minute studio version (that I'm familiar with), but instead it is the 14-minute "Live at Leeds" version (which I had never heard before.)

Here is a photo by the amazing photographer and pickup maker, Larry DiMarzio. I always begin the session with the standard "Stand there with the guitar, lean forward, and look mean" pose. But after 100 of those, I start to search for other things to do in front of the camera. I like this one, but I think what it really needs is a good caption. Some possible captions are:

I just received my copy of "Metallion" in the mail. It's a magazine made entirely with photos and articles from the recent Mr. Big tour of Japan. The magazine is made by the staff of "Burrn!!" magazine. I asked them once, why they spell Burrn with the letter "r" twice. They said that they were inspired by the British heavy metal magazine, "Kerrang!" That's good enough for me.

2014 was a great year here at the ArtistWorks Online Rock Guitar School. THANK YOU to everyone who joined me here for jamming, stomping, bending, listening, playing ferocious licks and memorable melodies, and cranking out rhythms with groove, chunk, and chickas. Let's do even more in 2015!

After several recording projects in my studio and a round-the-world Mr. Big tour, I finally have some time to clean up, and get ready for some high-quality production VEs!
